So bruising intellect allows you to use your intelligence modifier instead of your charisma modifier for intimidate checks. Even though I am using my intelligence for the skill does it still count as a Charisma based skill? If I were to buy a circlet of persuasion which boosts charisma checks, would it stack with the trait?

Its arguable, but I would say no.

No - it's no longer a Charisma-based check. It's an Intelligence-based check now.

I wouldn't work for Diplomacy using Clever Wordplay, either (or any of the other traits which allow intelligence to be used as the bluff or UMD stat).

Boy, that would be an excellent question to have FAQ'd.

I have a question to add to this...
Say you have bruising intellect and you take intimidating prowess
(which reads: Add your Strength modifier to Intimidate skill checks in addition to your Charisma modifier.)
By the reading are you adding int, chr, and str to intimidate?
It clearly says add strength in addition to charisma so...

No because your trait has turned them into Intelligence checks, which the circlet has NO effect over.
