As the ACG is almost at the point for choosing a role, one of my players was questioning Heggal's Rejuvenator role.
One of the powers says:
"Add 2 (□ 4) to your check against a card that has the Healing (□ or Divine) trait."
From what I understand, that would be when exploring and against checks when you encounter a card. If so, is it really a useful power? I don't know many cards that have the Healing trait. Just the potions and cure spells really.
Maybe if it is upgraded twice for the Divine trait it might be better.
Does that sound about right? Because that doesn't sound very useful. Or am I missing something?

If a card refers to a check against another card, that refers to any check required by that card, whether it’s a check to defeat, a check to acquire, a check to recharge, or any other check.
So it would help him with any check appearing on a card with the Healing trait. That would mean recharge checks too. Plus whatever else might come up. Might be very helpful if you have Cure or other healing spells to recharge.
I think (not 100% sure) some other cards have the Healing trait too. Maybe some of the healing allies. Again, not 100% sure.

I was gonna mention the recharge check, but Hawkmoon beat me to it (no surprise!)
Still, that feels like one of those powers you leave by the wayside. Of the 4 remaining power feats when you get your, would anyone really spend half of them to make a lackluster power kinda-sorta okay in really specific circumstances? I'd rather just use a blessing when a hot card comes on the table for acquiring. And since Heggal is a cleric, he can cycle his blessings pretty well through healing.
Besides which, Life of the Party has the upgrades to the Lini reveal power. Instead of spending 2 power feats to give you a +2 against healing and divine checks, you can spend 2 to get a +2 against everything you do. I like the uniqueness of Heggal automatically healing anyone who plays a Cayden Cailean blessing, but Life of the Party is where I'd go with him, no doubt.

This power would also help against theoretical banes - what if they made a Villain who's theme was some kind of regeneration and had the Healing trait? I mean, I don't think there's anything like that out, but still.
I'm with Dave, though - optimally speaking, the reason to go "Life of the Party" is to get the d4+x to maximum strength. I would probably guess that this power isn't spectacular because it's on the same role card as the actually spectacular ability to get to d4+3 - it's a balance thing. And, if you want to be an excellent healer, it might actually be worth it to you to get such a large bonus to your recharge and acquire checks for healing cards. But mostly, I see it as a well-designed balance thing (whether the Devs intended it that way or not).

I'm planning on taking the 1d4+X with my Heggal as high as I can; it's such a powerful ability that maximizing it first seems sensible.
I've found that I cure just as often with allies* using Heggal as with my Cure spell, so the bonus to recharge doesn't seem particularly useful.
* A second ally in my hand, of course, rather than the one I'm using for all the d4+x.

Here's my clarification notes on the Rejuvenator role:
eg Heggal’s Rejuvenator role - “Add 2 to your check against a card that has the Healing or Divine trait”
This would apply to acquiring a Major Cure, since the card has the Divine trait
This would apply to recharging that Major Cure, since it’s also a check against that card.
This would not apply to defeating a monster with Holy Light, since the Holy Light adds the Divine trait to the check, but the card itself doesn’t gain the Divine trait.
Potion of Healing has the Healing trait, but Allies like Poog and Father Zantus don't have the Healing trait (they instead have a Cleric class trait). It's possible but unlikely that a Villain would have the Healing trait, most likely it would have a class like Oracle or Cleric.
He would help against a theoretical Wand of Cure. There is also some late game loot in RotR that has the Healing trait that give abilities when attempting a check.

I'd use that in my standard RotR Lini build in a heartbeat. Even with her relatively high number of spells, she doesn't have enough for me! Although, without two Resto's taking up slots, I guess space isn't as tight...
So, like Andrew said, the ones that want their spells for combat.
And, like you two are suggesting, some bards would love it. More specifically, anyone with the Divine stat but more item space than spell space would consider taking it, I think, particularly if they're good at recharging.

Yeah I was wracking my brain earlier thinking if there even were any serious Divine casters besides Zarlova, who can get her attack spells back whenever she wants.
I mean, in RoRL it's maybe more accurate to say there's no serious Divine SPELLS. :D :D :D :D :D
But I haven't played a character who cares about attack spells to Radillo. Seoni didn't give a crap, I think I kept one just to have it. Radillo I struggled to find a balance for how many attack spells felt right (2-3 out of her 8-9). We've played a lot of characters and I almost never play casters, so I look at Item slots and think about how much of a waste that gem would be in the face of, like, Emerald Codex or Revelation Quill, since you might as well just have Cure anyway, since the only Divine characters I've played are Seelah and S&S Lem, and only for 2 APs each.
