Eidolon and Potions

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

So I am looking at the Lesser Rejuvenate Eidolon and Lesser Evolution spells, and I am wondering, if these spells made into potions need to be drank by the eidolon or the summoner.

My first instinct is that it is the eidolon, as these are similar to most buff spells. However, there is no clear spells to compare it too, considering the special connection Eidolon and Summoner share.

Additional question, would a potion of Evolution Surge or Lesser Evolution Surge have a preset evolution to gain, or is it chosen when drank.

Thank you

Potions target the one who drinks it. Since the Eidolon is the target per the spells description, then it's the Eidolon that needs to drink it.
As to your second question, it is chosen after it is drank, much like it is chosen after the spell is cast.

EDIT: Evolution Surge MIGHT not be able to be in potion format however, since the spell labels the target as "your Eidolon" this may make the spell dangerously close to being a "personal" spell and therefore be unable to qualify for being a potion. Since there are no rules supporting one way or the other it will have to be up to the GM.

Normally, whether or not a spell can be made into a potion has nothing to do with the spell's target, and everything to do with the spells range. If it has a range of personal, then it cannot be made into a potion. But if it has some other range then it can, even if the target is "you" or "you or creature touched."

The only awkwardness for Evolution Surge comes from the fact that the drinker counts as both the caster and the target, so it would probably not work.
If the caster is X, then the target would be X's eidolon.
If the caster is your eidolon, then the target would be your eidolon's eidolon.
So I don't think a potion would work, because it's impossible to use this spell on yourself.
