My NO Spoiler Review
The weather in New York is barley past the end of Winter but there is no mistaking this is a Summer blockbuster.
From the opening scene to end credits we are treated to the high stakes action and emotional rollercoaster ride that can only come from a decade long investment in world building and character development set for us in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
No bathroom break sequences in this one.
The pairings of the characters are well done, and for me it’s Tony Stark and Dr. Strange for the winning magical combo but Thor and the Guardians give them a run for the money.
The humor is genuine and never forced on us, and rather quite welcome as we gasp for air amid the sea of heroic scenes pulled out of the comic books of my youth.
Now let’s talk about the Titan in the room, Thanos. Josh Brolin NAILS Thanos, he really does.
Do you know how Darth Vader comes into his own in The Empire Strikes Back? Well here Brolin fills in Thanos gauntlet and shoes and then some. The man has come a LONG way since his portrayal in The Goonies. This is every bit a Thanos movie as it is an Avengers movie.
As a brief side note, I like how they use Peter Parker, Spider-Man, as our surrogate in the movie, he is us, the comic book fans and the viewers, on the screen with our heroes.
I do want to say that the structure of this movie is different than other super hero movies, and I am sure the end will have many people talking.
(In my screening there was only one post credit scene.)
This is a crazily fun super hero film, I’ll see it at least two more times on the big screen.
Now is it a great film? I feel it is the BEST possible payoff after a decade’s long buildup leading to it.
But hey, no matter what I say, you guys are going to see it anyways right ?
Also,
growing up I loved DC, from Saturday mornings’ Justice League vs the Legion of Doom, to Crisis on Infinite Earths, to Vertigo’s Sandman.
Nowadays, honestly, DC is getting embarrassingly dunked on and crushingly owned by Marvel in the theaters.
Given how much good source material they have to draw upon in DC's backlog ... it is impressive how much WB and DC have (mostly) forked up what they've got on the big screen.

Yes, in the last several hours a number of sites have confirmed this: only one post-credits scene, and it's at the very end of a long stretch of credits. Nothing mid-way, so that's everyone's one chance at the restroom.

I’ve just finished watching the movie. It deserves all the hype it got and then some. The best MCU movie, by far imo.

The only "primary" characters currently in play that we know for certain will survive are Black Panther (because $$), Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, Spidey and the GotG (most of them at least) due to the pesky release schedule post-Infinity War.
I'd bank on at least Cap and Tony Stark getting planted, perhaps even Loki, Banner/the Hulk, Hawkeye and/or Black Widow as well, pretty close to fulfilling Stark's "worst-case scenario vision" via the Scarlet Witch in Age of Ultron.
Nick Fury and a slew of secondary characters could push up daisies from across the preceding trilogies as 'collateral damage'.
Depends on how much they wanted to rack up Thanos' body count...
I think they may be setting up Thor to fully assume Odin's mantle as King of Asgard-on-Earth in Norway. All he is missing is a bit more wisdom, the two ravens, the bad-a$$ horse and a new weapon. Perhaps post-Infinity War the role of mentor/sponsor is divided between Black Panther and Thor?

She will have the daemon kittehs meow-meow flense me if I see it without her (the first time) ... o.O
I will be seeing this on Monday or Tuesday. That gives me time to watch all the Marvel movies over the weekend.
Will watch it in a few hours. Was thinking about going into the midnight showing but having to go to work after that today would not have been fun.

It's good. Very good. The best Avengers movie to date, for sure.
Saw it. Very much enjoyed it. I was honestly surprised at how tightly it seemed plotted for the most part (my brain may find nits to pick later), given all the plates it had to keep spinning. Am elated, devastated, puzzled, intrigued, and awed.
Really liked how the teams were all formed and how they all worked together. Civil War while good often felt like they were working too hard to cram everyone in. This movie is larger and yet I feel dealt with the massive ensemble in a much better way.
There was only one moment of "really, dude?" Character stupidity affecting the plot and one moment of "where were you five minutes ago?" But other than that everything worked well.
The movie's ending is exactly what you were expecting and feared and yet is also a series of total surprises that you never saw coming.
I will absolutely call this the best Avengers film (and certainly miles ahead of AoU), and the best team-based Marvel film. I think I personally like the movies with a tighter less galactic scope for me to call it best overall. But it was a great Marvel movie.

Despite his omnicidal tendencies they made him seem like a person, which seems like a really tall order. He was also every bit the threat he's been billed as.

Also, this movie was awesome. All of the characters were integrated well. None of the scenes felt like they were wasting time. Impressive, considering the runtime. Thanos got some much needed development to replace the deathboner he has in the comics. The Black Order while not as dynamic as their master were in no way wasted.

I've not read him much in comics (I was, outside of FF fandom, entirely a DC girl in my youth so while I've caught up on a lot in the last several years, my Marvel education has gaps, especially as for both companies I usually refuse to read crossover events) so I can't compare.
But I can say he was brilliant, charming, occasionally sympathetic, and utterly terrifying. I totally bought he believed he was doing the right think even as it was clear how awful he was.

I have the bladder of an overweight middle aged woman (for those reasons) and I somehow still managed to stay seated the whole time.

Saw this last night. I've seen a lot of movies in movie theaters, I dont think I've ever heard a reaction from an audience like I did at the end of this movie. Stunned silence and then sounds of disbelief.
I swear, no BS there was some guy SOBBING behind me during one part near the end.
This movie was pretty much everything that I wanted in a GIANT Superhero crossover movie. This is filmmaking done on a truly EPIC scale. Movies like this are why I still go to the movies in the first place but there are still enough emotional stakes here where youre legitimately concerned about the heroes. And with good reason. As weak of a villain as Ultron was in AGE OF ULTRON? Thanos is the EXACT opposite. He's a LEGIT threat and it's established how legit of a threat he is EARLY.
BigNorseWolf is absolutley right. DO NOT get the large soda. The pacing of this movie feels RELENTLESS. You think there's a time where you can run out and go to the bathroom and you'll miss something. The line for the men's room after this movie was RIDICULOUS.
Is the movie perfect? No. But the issues I have with it are petty and I understand why certain things are the way that they are because I understand how movies are made. I'm seeing it again this afternoon with my mom and my sister. It's a good thing I saw it alone last night because I don't know how my mom would respond to me dropping the F-bomb (as in WTF?!?!) as many times as I did during the course of this movie. Then again knowing my mom she would understand and have a few choice words of her own. I honestly don't know how she's going to take this movie. My sister is more than likely going to be sobbing her way through the latter half of it.

One of things that kept the suspense up is due to contracts ending and what not we 'know' that they have to kill of someone of our heroes...which the exact opposite of these kind of movies where we know X is not going to die.
So every fight...every time your favorite hero got hit...ect...there was a small voice in the back of mind wondering if this was it for X.
It made every fight scene...unpredictable and emotional. It was very refreshing.
And that is why you should avoid all spoilers before you see it.
Very solid movie and I think they did an impressive job with retaining a focus on Thanos and several key characters even when they had 30-odd recognisable recurring characters running around in the background. Most people had a solid moment in the sun and a good line or two.
Major weaknesses: it's pretty straightforward to immediately see what's going to happen in Infinity War II and how they're going to resolve some of the massive cliffhangers, and the way they handle that could badly affect this movie in retrospect.
Also, Marvel's insistence that the two movies are separate is spin of the highest order. This movie was great, but it needs Part II next year to stick the landing.

I believe Ant-Man and the Wasp largely takes place after Civil War but before Infinity War. At least, the trailers seem to suggest it's largely dealing with the fallout of Scott Lang's involvement with Team Cap.
I would speculate that what happens during Infinity War gets addressed perhaps toward the end of that movie, and might set up, therefore, Ant-Man and the Wasp's participation in Avengers 4.

I believe this is correct. How they handle the MCU right now is that ANT-MAN & THE WASP takes place either prior to or possibly simultaneously with INFINITY WAR, and CAPTAIN MARVEL takes place in the 1990s so it's not even an issue.
