WotR Is Official Now

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

It is finally official.

Character add-on deck too.

Looks like the inquisitor and cavalier are mentioned as characters in the descriptions.

So are the arcanist and summoner.

Bloodrager, hunter and shaman are also there in the character addon.

That mock up for the base set box is pretty sick! I notice that we're looking at April too. I'm glad it didn't get squeezed into the Feb slot like it initially would have been.

I'm also excited at the prospect of the 4th set coming in Octoberish as opposed to releasing at Gencon.

Note that the slayer was changed to inquisitor from the unofficial description. These may change again.

*Ahem*...

I feel positive feelings towards this announcement, and look forward to a game which furthers those positive feelings.

Can't wait to see the new classes spoiled

We're 98% committed to the classes listed there.

It looks Seoni and Harsk will be making triumphant returns. This pleases me.

Grand Lodge

Vic, does that mean that the set following will be coming after GenCon?

Although they are on the box art of the Add-On Deck for now, bloodrager, hunter and shaman are in the product description.... Of those, shaman is the only one on the current box art. Interesting to see the skald randomly on the artwork. But yeah, it would be nice if the ranger and sorcerer both come back.

You are always mentioning their classes, but not their namey such as Alain, Kyra, etc.

So what names of characters are included in the new set finally?

Grand Lodge

Bloodrager - Crowe
Hunter - Adowyn
Shaman - Shandra Geltl

And the other 8 ?

Grand Lodge

Arcanist - Enora
Cavalier - Alain (or Damiel if he can make the change!)
Inquisitor - Imrijka
Summoner - Balazar

Still 4 missing!

Grand Lodge

Huh? The other four (3 in the base and 1 in the add-on) are prior characters.

If you can figure out the other four classes then you'll know their names.

Sovereign Court

And before it's asked, no, we don't know which 4 those other characters are.

Do the images of the game boxes reveal more?

Grand Lodge

This

Well, I think I see Harsk, Seoni, and Seelah... but those images are "not final and subject to change" per Liz Courts.

Not me. I like the Gen Con release, saves me on shipping and I get to play the new set with all my friends that I only see at Gen Con. No new set means I have to haul a set up with me and back if I want to play it.

I get what you're saying completely, and maybe it's my own overreaction to launch this year, but it would seem that the timeframes separating themselves for launches of new rpg ap's and card game ap's might help overall and give an overall better consumer experience. Or maybe the 4th set will be expedited. Whatever works best for the overall good of the game itself I shall support.

I actually like the start of the seasons being GenCon. If they push the following set (after WotR) to October, then the PFSACG season starts then as well. Which means we're playing the previous season of organized play as opposed to PFSRPG which ends at GenCon and begins the new season there.

Yes, it is a lot of work and I feel for Paizo trying to cycle the PACG at GenCon as well as two PFS products. But it is a let down if we (PFSACG) have to wait another month and a half.

Well, we don't have any idea yet when adventure path 4 will be released, so lets not jump to any assumptions yet.

And that's why I asked if the following set would be pushed to after GenCon because of the projected release time for AP3.

I really really hope Mike and Tanis include another promo character for Wrath! Ranzak is a ton of fun.

Silver Crusade

If there's another goblin for a promo card, which would be a lot of fun, it should be a goblin who thinks he's a paladin. Borrowing ideas from Munchkin, but he should be wearing his "helm of courage."

Helm of Courage

I'd even give him a power similar to Ranzak where after he defeats a monster, he rolls a d6 and on 4-6, he immediately explores again.

Well, Poog is a Cleric. They could always turn him into a playable character.

I think Kyra is returning for Wrath right? If so they wouldn't double up on classes.

I think they are making Poog the cleric now. They're working towards a "We Be Goblins!" party.

I'm not entirely sure if Kyra has been confirmed. Seelah (Paladin) seems to be confirmed. Inquisitor, hunter, and shaman should all also be divine casters if they follow what the classes are like in the RPG, so that would be a total of four divine characters already. I don't know if they'll be putting Kyra in this set or not.

It's kind of fun not being in the playtest this year and being able to speculate about what's in the new set.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Designer

Kyra is confirmed.

Thanks Mike, I thought I had read that Kyra was a part of this before, and it makes sense given Wrath's theme.

Knowing this, and going on absolute conjecture with no basis in reality, I don't think they would have an iconic cleric and a promo character cleric at the same time.

There is only one answer then: GOBLIN DEMON HUNTER.

Although a goblin who thinks he's a paladin would also be a lot of fun.

We are hoping to be on an April/October cycle now. The impact on the OP schedule is yet to be determined (but I will say, as I'm important as Gen Con is, keep in mind that, ultimately, it's just one weekend out of 52 each year).

Mike Selinker wrote:

Spiffy! So now the question is if Seoni and Harsk are really the other two retuning characters in this set or if the current Character Add-On art just stuck on four mostly random characters (since the Shardra Geltl is the only one confirmed by the product descriptions).

As a thought I just had based on your statement, I think that this might work out a bit better in the long run for OP. I would like to see a season special, very similar to PFS, but how I imagine a season closer is that it would require a full set of cards (all 6 adventures in one box) to pull off properly.

Yes, but it's my favorite weekend!

Sigh. I guess I can still hope that future Class Deck releases, if/when they happen, won't then line up with new base sets. The main reason I was able to get them all at once is that I budget/save money for Gen Con, without that extra padding it would be rough getting them in, say, April.

I'll just note that we have not announced any Class Decks for April. But we *are* working on more.

Mythic Kyra rocks!

I'm happy to note that my birthday is in April. This means that for the rest of my life (because PACG will continue at least that long!) I can look forward to starting a new adventure on my birthday. Thanks Paizo!
