Card Guild Press Release

There was a press release yesterday about the card guild. You can find it here.

I just want to highlight this sentence for those of you who will be running the guild at various stores:

Retailers in the US who sign up for the Pathfinder Society Adventure Card Guild will receive a free copy of Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Skull & Shackles Base Set for their store ($59.99 MSRP).

I know some people have said the store is basically letting you run it, but isn't taking much interest in it themselves. And others have stressed that they are worried about having enough base sets. Well, if you can convince the store to spend 5 minutes registering, they will get a free base set, which you can then use to help them bring people into their store.

I'm not suggesting you ask them if you can keep this free base set, I'm just suggesting you ask them to take small time required to get something for free so that you can help them bring people into their store.

To register, they just need to visit paizo.com/retailers.

Good luck with all your guild kickoffs!

So Canadian retailers are not being supported by Paizo?

With the cost of international shipping, it's probably too much to be able to send free. It isn't that they aren't supporting Canada, they just aren't providing free product probably because it's too expensive.

I used to run online contests, and the exorbitant shipping was one problem with shipping products to Canada and elsewhere, an equally big headache was investigating local and national laws about promotions and contests.

Sorry for sending you down a rabbit hole, my question should have been what is Paizo doing to support Canadian retailers. Does anyone have official information they can share? Thanks.

What do you mean exactly? Are you just wondering if guild play can happen in Canada? If so, then yes. Canadian retailers can sign up on the retailer site. If the designate that they are interested in the card guild, they will get the scenarios at the same time as US retailers.

The only thing different is US retailers can get a free base set box. International retailers will have to supply one themselves, whether they use a store copy or have an organizer willing to use theirs.

If that wasn't what you were asking, can you clarify a bit? Thanks.

Best store name for PACG organized play:
I really hope this store from the list of Canadian retailers is running guild play.

No, I'm wondering if someone at Paizo can confirm that it was simply an oversight that no mention was made of a free base set for Canadian retailers.

Ah. Ok. Yeah, can't help you there, as only Paizo can answer that.

Agreed. I appreciate your intervention. I hope Paizo is using their distributors to deliver the OP sets to retailers, that would seem to be the most efficient method to do so. Canadian retailers generally use the same distributors as Americans, so there should be negligible impact on shipping costs (as the OP set would simply ship with the rest of the retailer's order).

Any response to this question imminent?

Sorry—the free Base Set offer is open to US retailers only because of high shipping costs (and also because in many cases, potential customs fees could cost more than the wholesale price that the retailer could purchase their own set for.)

We do not have the ability to send things to specific retailers via distribution channels, and this offer is open only to retailers who have signed up for the program.

That's a shame. Well, thanks for supplying some clarity. AES
