The Artificer, does this exist?

Product Discussion

Hi, I really enjoy 4th edition's take on the Artificer. Building gadgets and little robots are exactly what I'm looking for in a Pathfinder compatible class, but does it exist?

Thanks for any help and/or recommendations.

Hi there, Aaron!

If you're looking for "magic as technology", then the definitive class is the Machinesmith. I believe that's an LPJ product, but I could be wrong.

If you're looking for "technology as its own sphere of power", then the definitive class is my own Tinker, which focuses on the design, deployment, and command of a small squadron of custom automata.

There's a free PDF with an alchemist archetype that builds scientific devices over here; the scientific innovator could probably craft a robot device or two (using summon monster and the like).

@Aaron Scott 139: If you enjoy a complex class with robots and A LOT of supplemental material, Interjection games' Tinker would indeed be what you're looking for.

The machinesmith is more magic-technology, but also a great choice.

Just my 2 cents!

@Aaron Scott 139:

HERE is Cheapy's googledoc that contains links to all the 3PP "Artificer"- style Base Classes*, as well as links to all the Artificer's and Engineers in the Homebrew section. Should cover what you need…

*including but not limited too:

Adamant’s Artificer
Headless Hydra Game’s Clockworker
Rite Publishing’s Faces of the Tarnished Souk: Kahrvass Fleymbrow, Smith of Burning Desire has the artisan class
LPJr’s Machinesmith
Drop Dead Studio’s Artisan
Rossi Publishing Games’ Spark
Amora Games’ Tinker
Interjection Games’ Tinker
Interjection Games’ Gadgeteer
Gearhead from Pure Steam
Golemoid, Mechamage, Steamwright, Thunder Scout from the Thunderscape Campaign Setting

Also of note [EDIT - just added to Cheapy's googledoc]
Radiance House' Age of Electrotech has added the technician Base class to the long list of Artificers...

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I will check all of these out! Much appreciated.
