Hello, folks.
I'm a bit confused by the Picaroon archetype. It gets Two-weapon Finesse and Melee Shooter only works if you're using two weapons. However, it doesn't replace Precise Strike, so you basically lose an ability (and a pretty powerful one, at that) for nothing.
I really like the idea of a dual wielding Swashbuckler and was considering how to make this archetype work. Betwee the dagger pistol and the Gun Twirling feat, I think you could begin your turn with both guns in hand, shoot one, put the other one away, draw the other as a dagger and use Precise Strike with it. You would be fighting with two weapons, but since you can always draw or sheathe your guns before and after you attack with Gun Twirling and Quick Draw, I think Precise Strike works. Not only that, it should work for melee normally.
Mind you, it's a feat intensive way to achieve a dual wielding Swashbuckler, but I think it works. Am I wrong?

First Part:
Two-Weapon Finesse (Ex): At 2nd level, a picaroon gains the benefits of the Weapon Finesse feat with light or onehanded piercing melee weapons.
Doesn't say anything about having to fight with two weapons.
Second Part:
She also gains the effects of the Two-Weapon Fighting feat as long as she is wielding a light or one-handed piercing melee weapon in one hand and one-handed firearm in the other hand.
So yes, you only gain 2wp fighting if you have a light or 1HD piercing melee wp and a 1HF firearm.
Precise Strike (Ex): At 3rd level, while she has at least 1 panache point, a swashbuckler gains the ability to strike precisely with a light or one-handed piercing melee weapon (though not natural weapon attacks), adding her swashbuckler level to the damage dealt. To use this deed, a swashbuckler cannot attack with a weapon in her other hand or use a shield other than a buckler.
So long as you don't attack that round with your off hand, you're ok.
---So if you (1) shoot your gun with your right hand, (2) use gun twirling (as long as you have 1 point of grit) to put away your fire arm, (3) quick draw your dagger, and use precise strike to attack with it.
-Since you never used your off-hand it qualifies for precise strike.
Note: So long as your DM is fine with giving you two free actions, you can do this, by RAW.

I don't play gunslingers, but it look like you need the Gunslinger feat to not provoke AoOs, when using your firearm.
