PFS Kitsune help

Advice

Sczarni

hey all, since the Kitsune is becoming pfs legal on the 15th of august i wanted to build a cool Kitsune Character for my first pfs character im hoping to play on the 17th depending if i can get all the pdfs i need lol

anyway the general idea of the Kitsune i have in mind is a sort of gambler/conman type, i had a couple ideas but not sure if they would work out that well, one was a Card Caster Magus type lol, or even a mysterius stranger gunslinger but not sure how to go about either of them any help would be awsome

(and if possible what books each part is from i know i dont need to worry about the core book but a list of what i should get for either build would be nice) thanks all ^^

Well the class a kitsune does the best is an sorcerer focused on enchantment magic.

I would say with the racials they make good: bards, s ummoners, oracle, mysterious stranger gun slingers, swash buckler.

Im planning a enchanted because how powerful they are.

Sczarni

lol dont forget ninja, i was thinking of the Card Caster just to be a bit differnt but not sure may just not be for the best oh well im still doing reserch lol

The enchantment kitsune i feel will be toooo common.

There are plenty of other options to use.

I think the kitsune kid mysterious stranger wwould be neat.

Sczarni

ooo just found the Story Summoner from the harrow handbook, that would defitnally go well with the whole gambler idenitiy lol and could be really fun

Paladin of Saranrae with Dervish dance?

Scarab Sages

A Tetori grappler with agile maneuvers in fox form.

Sczarni

hmm im thinking of Kitsune Alchemist, maybe not optimal but could be really fun lol

First, you'll want to check to see if the Harrow Handbook is PFS legal yet. It might not be because of the huge amount of random elements at play in it.

Second, if you're going with Con Man for a kitsune, there's really no better choice than the Scarnzi Swindler rogue archetype from the Harrow Handbook. That archetype is LITERALLY the Con Man archetype.

What's better, the Scarnzi Swindler is VERY powerful. Like, ridiculously so. It trades Trapfinding for a neat ability that, if you play it right, will always give you a beneficial bonus. Specifically, you go Dazzling Display and every time you use the "let fate decide" ability, you pick either Intimidate or Attack Rolls. If you get Intimidate, then you've added a huge bonus on your Intimidate check, meaning your shaken effect is even more potent. If you choose attack rolls, then congratulations. You hit as good as a fighter, especially at high levels. To make things even more ridiculous, take the Fate's Favored trait (Ultimate Campaign), which improves all luck bonuses you benefit from by +1. (Including the one provided by this archetype).

If you'd rather focus more on Bluffing, you could swap the Dazzling Display suggestion for Improved Feint, or even Two-Weapon Feint. Two-Weapon Fighting with this archetype could be REALLY nasty if you fought with two weapons of the same kind, such as kukris.

Either a Serpentine Sorcerer or a Fey-Serpentine Crossblooded Sorcerer for me.

I'm warming up my schadenfreude for all of the people who don't truly understand what a slog playing a low-level Fey Sorcerer is. Levels 3 through 7 can be very challenging. That's ~15 scenarios worth of patience.
I think it will be common at first, then most of them will get shelved when their dreams of awesomeness don't pan out right away.

You have to pay for all of that power.
It's probably my favorite class.

@Deliox: Alchemist is an interesting choice. I hope it's fun for you.
I think a Kitsune is really a cool race.

thanks Tomos i hope it is lol, starting with only 12 stg but with the mutagen that goes up to 16 and then i may end up taking a lv or so of urban barbarian for a bit of extra boost lol

edit: oo right this is Deliox lol change the username

I got my kitsune into play with a boon last year, and I gotta agree, the first few levels are tough. I've used GM credit to get him through. Probably played once per level on the way up to enjoy the RP and feel of his power curve.

I assigned a couple of module credits to mine. Still a few more levels to go.

I love Realistic Likeness though.

Heh - I suspect many will discover the actual limitations of spells like Charm Person. Having said that, we had a Kitsune Fey Sorcerer who utterly dominated Rise of the Runelords with smart play.

Honestly, I'm gearing up for the table fights over Realistic Likeness.

Early on, I found sleep was my bread and butter, swapped it out later on for HD reasons. I also snagged Snap Dragon Fireworks. Not the best spell, but it gave me something to do each round against things immune to compulsions (for any number of reasons) low damage, but as it is touch it stands a better chance of hitting then my crossbow, and has a status effect as well, and that it lasts rounds/level means I'm not consuming spells that I can use in other encounters. That said, there are some modules where the foes have been principally undead/construct/mindless and I've not been a particularly effective party member.

Yep.

A Fey Sorcerer would be nuts in RotRL. I don't want to drop any spoilers, but I think I might consider banning it when I eventually run the AP.

I think you're right about arguments over Realistic Likeness. People should be judicious with it, but it can be very powerful given the right circumstances.
Combine with Vocal Alteration and it goes completely berserk.

Staying useful is the name of the game for these guys. Snapdragon Fireworks is a great idea, especially if you can combine it with metamagics.

The sad thing is that a lot of players will drool over the high-end benefits and 4th+ level spells but won't have the patience or the creativity to make it work until then.

Personally, I don't like Sleep. It's way too strong at level 1-2 and then immediately becomes useless. No room for finesse or strategy.
Other stuff like Lock Gaze and Bungle can be a lot of fun to use instead.
