Came across an online video the other day of a company that's designed a 9mm handgun with a built-in silencer. The gun looks like something out of a Judge Dredd movie. The video showed them firing the weapon without needing hearing protection.

My father-in-law might love something like that.

I saw on another site the chick who played the little psychic gal in Stranger Things has been offered a role in Godzilla: King of Monsters. My first thought was "What? The movie's going to have people?".

Scarab Sages

Whoa? Is it just me, or is the Paizo website f%*%ed up yet again?

Scarab Sages

Teen Titans Go! writers are definitely smoking the good s@*!.

Quiet Riot's Bang Your Head came on the radio this morning, so I got to teach my kids how to head bang. My boy got into it, but baby girl just looked at me like I had two heads.

Why did a make a doctor appointment for 0840? Well, at least I have time for two cups of coffee.

Yesterday turned into another good food day. Wacky Mongolian for lunch with the wife, then bacon-wrapped beef medallions and baked potatoes for dinner.

Scarab Sages

Then, last night, I got it into my head to check Netflix for one of my all-time favorite TV shows - Better Off Ted. Sure enough, it was there. So the wife and I watched 8 episodes of season 1.

Sadly, the show only had two seasons (13 episodes each) so it won't take long for us to binge watch the entirety. It's worth it, though. Such a damned funny show. Portia de Rossi is f%*#ing hilarious, the stories are utterly ridiculous, and there's a great deal of non-PC humor.

If you've never seen it, I highly recommend it.

I've a dilemma:

I want to brew some mead. I've got less than 4-1/2 bottles of existing mead left (5-1/2 if my brother hasn't drank the bottle I gave him a month or so back), so I'm going to run out in the next several months.

Even if I brew today, I wouldn't be ready to bottle for about 1 year (9 months, if I push it), So I'd likely run out before this new batch is ready.

So, the problem.....

Do I go to Grape and Grain for the supplies I need? Or do I hit Brew It Yourself? Grape and Grain is more conveniently located, and I know they'll have yeast, but I'm not sure if they have honey. Brew It Yourself, on the other hand, has both the yeast and several types of honey, but the store is a bit more out of the way.

The deciding factor might be if the little parking lot stand selling local honey has some in stock. It's generic wild-flower honey (not my preferred), but it's better than nothing.

Scarab Sages

See? Dilemma! The struggle is real!

Scarab Sages

Of course, I can always call the guy at Grape and Grain and check on whether he does or does not have honey in stock.......

Took my baby girl to the doctor for her 3 year visit. She's gained an inch and a half in height since I last measured her on 30 December.

The boy was a bit bummed out today, because we forgot they were doing a special dress-up day for the kindergarteners. Luckily, I found out not many of the other kids did it either. Still, in an effort to cheer him up, and simplify things for me, dinner was Chick-fil-a for he, his sister, and the wife.

Now it's the lull in activity before the flurry of bath/bedtime.

Thank all the gods tomorrow is Friday. Although, my hoped for plans for the weekend are already scuttled.

Last weekend I mentioned the idea of going to the zoo this weekend if the weather was nice. Alas, at the time, I had forgotten the city is hosting the Super Bowl this weekend. So the area in and around the zoo will be a madhouse.

Ah well. As long as we get a shot before the weather turns too hot.

Less than a week until Gaiman's Norse Mythology is released. Happy zombie is happy.

Scarab Sages

Just over three weeks until Doctor Strange is released on blu ray. Eager zombie is eager.

Yes. I am too.

When I picked up the boy from daycare today, I found him without jacket. At the time, he mentioned he might have left it at his regular school.

This morning, when we went back to daycare, he wanted to check the lost and found, just in case. We did not find his big jacket, but we did find a long sleeve shirt and his rain coat. Both of those had been missing for a couple of weeks.

I might have caught a (so far) milder version of the cold that has, in turn, afflicted my boy, my baby girl, and my wife.

Scarab Sages

I saw an article stating Nintendo is running its first ever Super Bowl ad. The "extended version" of the ad linked in the article was 1:41 long. It left me wondering what Nintendo was going to cut it down to for the game air time, considering a 30 second spot runs about $5 million.

Scarab Sages

Still, the video had me really liking the Switch. I'm hoping it lives up to the hype. I'm thinking it could make a great Christmas gift for my kiddos.

2017 sure has been slacking so far....

I got the first email notification for my (more than likely) last subscription AP issue. I think, typically, I'll get the second email in another week or two, which will tell me the item is expected to ship another week or two after that.

Scarab Sages

I also got the renewal notice for my PE license. It'll be interesting to see how this goes, as one of the pieces of information they confirm is employment, something that has (sadly) not existed since about two months after I was licensed.

Ye gods, I hate this weekend. Although maybe "hate" hate is too strong a word. Being annoyed would be more accurate.

Normally, I'm indifferent to Super Bowl Weekend. Since it happens to be here in Houston this year, I'm in a "don't like it" frame of mind. It creates traffic and more-crowded-than-usual store conditions, thus limiting my options and increasing the risk of boredom. That my family is currently suffering through various states of illness, along with other personal issues, only exacerbates things.

Meh, I'll live.

Scarab Sages

I caught Spaceballs on last night. Sadly, I did not find it as funny as I once did. Certainly, Mel Brooks has made other movies which are far superior.

Scarab Sages

At least the weather seems to be matching my mood - cloudy and cool today, rain in the forecast for tomorrow.

Scarab Sages

I think I need another cup of coffee.

I do hope that things improve for you, AZ. Also, good luck on the job hunt.

Scarab Sages

Ye gods, the sound of whiny children is annoying.

Scarab Sages

Actually, that should just be "whiny children are annoying."

Scarab Sages

I'm bored.

Did I mention I was bored?

I love my children, but there are occasions when I have a strong desire to throw bricks at their heads.

You're oddly good at that.

'Tis the day of the Super Bowl! Or, as I like to call it, just another Sunday.

Scarab Sages

In checking the forecast, it appears I'll have to once again switch from heat to AC. Wow! I think we made it two whole days with the heat on.

Scarab Sages

Another new episode of Black Sails tonight. I'm happy there's a new episode. I'm sad that we'll be one more episode closer to the end.

Scarab Sages

I have now beaten Diablo III with all the currently available character classes. In my opinion, the wizard is the most powerful of the classes. I've already got him set to Torment II difficulty level, and will probably take him up a notch.

Now I'm just waiting for them to release the Necromancer class (sometime this year, apparently).

Scarab Sages

And now I'm remembering those glory days when I was younger, single, and a frequent (as in daily) patron of a restaurant which was part of a well known (and extraordinarily awesome) chain.

Mmmmmm....Hooters Girls.

I let my boy watch the minute+ extended Super Bowl ad for Nintendo Switch. I told him maybe....just maybe...we might get them one for Christmas. There are, of course, many factors at play in such a decision. The main factors are (a) how well the hardware performs and holds up, and (b) what kind of games they have available.

Scarab Sages

There is a cat in the neighborhood. The vile beast is continuously attempting to gain entrance to my house. Needless to say, if it ever succeeds, it'll probably be the vermin's last act of freedom, as I will make sure it ends up in a shelter somewhere.

In case you were wondering, I despise cats. They are the most worthless of pets.

Scarab Sages

I have come to see the silver lining in the cloud of fewer Pathfinder Novels being written which I have a desire to read. It has slowed the growth of my books-to-be-read pile considerably.

Scarab Sages

Saw a short bit on the news this morning that Tom Brady's game winning jersey went missing.

Scarab Sages

Kept the boy home from school today. His temp was up slightly and his stomach was hurting. We're wondering if it could be the strep. I'll try to get him to the doctor later today.

Scarab Sages

Thankfully, the boy does not have strep. He can (hopefully) go back to school tomorrow and leave me to get some s~!* done.
