Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo in the Doctor Strange movie?

SWEET! That dude is an awesome actor.

Busy day, and it's not over yet.

Up at 0530. Brought kidlets to daycare after 0600. Had some coffee and did some computer work. Brought the trailblazer to the shop. Answered some work emails while waiting for the vehicle work. Got home, cleaned out the car, then vacuumed and mopped downstairs. Went out for lunch and to hit the cleaners. Home again to vacuum the stairs. Then off to some stores, including a bit of grocery shopping. Then home again to straighten up and vacuum the upstairs. Then a bit more cleaning. Then picked up the kids from daycare, cooked dinner, ate dinner. Finally, a bit of relaxing before going to give the boy his bath and get him to bed.

Somewhere in all that, I also cleaned the downstairs half bath and did two loads of laundry.

And I've still got a ton of stuff to do before I go to sleep later tonight.

Working an overnight shift. 3 am, the dead hour. I will be at work until 4pm. Hospitals are fairly creepy in the small hours of morning. Thankfully it seems like there are few drunks or crazy folk about tonoght

*knocks on wood*

starts humming the music to Halloween

Nope. Didn't get me. They still have an hour and a half to try though

Looks about all paranoid-y

Scarab Sages

Did you make it, Patrick? Are you the inevitable lone survivor? Knock once for yes, twice for no.

Great day today! My niece had her dance recital, so my brother dropped their youngest off here for us to watch. Charlie had his first swim lesson.

After the dance recital, my brother, his wife, and their two oldest came back to our place. I grilled up burgers and hot dogs for lunch. Then we took all the kids to the neighborhood splash pad. When we came back, the youngsters had popsicles before my brother and his left. Now we're just relaxing.

Scarab Sages

And the weather was great. Warm. Plenty of sunshine. But a nice breeze to keep things on the comfy side.

Made it through that first shift. Now it's 330 am the next night. Good thing I'm straight with the undead. They gave me an honorary membership since I'm so freakin' pale

Scarab Sages

One of us! One of us!

Had a not bad day. Mostly hanging around the house, doing laundry, snuggling with baby girl, watching Thor with the boy.

I did change out my own vehicles rear windshield wiper, and the two front wipers on the wife's car. And I did the grocery shopping.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I've slowly come to realize, although I love many beers, my favorite ones are black as sin. Nothing beats a good stout.

40 minutes of my last shift left to go. Then a nice weekend. I'm just about ready for it. Phew! 36 hours in three days.

Scarab Sages

Have fun, Patrick!

Monday!

you got that right.

Yesterday morning, I had the unforeseen opportunity to introduce the boy to one of my favorite comic book characters - Ghost Rider! As we were all getting up, he wanted the TV on, and to watch Avengers. Avengers wasn't on yet, but Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. was on. So I changed to that channel and, lo and behold, it was guest starring my favorite flame-headed biker!

My absolute favorite is Young's Double Chocolate Stout. I was introduced to it at Hershey back during the wife and I's first anniversary visit to that place. We stayed at the Hershey Hotel. It was awesome.

I'm also a big fan of Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout. I brewed a clone of that once....

Scarab Sages

Another of my new favorite styles of beer is Black Rye IPAs. Firestone Walker makes a great one - Wookey Jack. Founder's is another one I like.

Scarab Sages

It never ceases to amaze me how brutal a small child can be.

Scarab Sages

Lots of rain. There has been a warning of flash floods. Didn't stop me from getting to work, though.

And I even got in a bit early. Normally, I have to drop the kidlets off at daycare first, but it was closed today.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, I have a distinct feeling today has immense potential to suck big, hairy goat balls.

Scarab Sages

Today did not suck nearly as bad as I thought it might.

Plenty of rain, though. Thanks, Tropical Storm Bill.

Scarab Sages

In other news, the DOD facility I used to work at in Philly was evacuated today, after what was reported to be a "credible threat".

Scarab Sages

I'm training the boy. Whenever I ask him "Should we take off and nuke the site from orbit?" I want him to answer "It's the only way to be sure."

Scarab Sages

So much for the horror that was supposed to be Tropical Storm Bill.

Scarab Sages

Most of the sound and fury came from the TV, not the sky.

Scarab Sages

still wondering if his Dungeons Deep case and Gargantuan Red Dragon will ever be shipped

Scarab Sages

It no longer surprises me what some people are willing to "facilitate", based on their own inherent biases. And it saddens me when so-called professionals can't act like it.

Scarab Sages

Bought a new (to me) book on marinades last week at Half-Priced Books. I'm thinking I might just have to put it to good use this weekend. Maybe finally smoke a brisket.

Scarab Sages

"All I know is, that's a lot of fluid to move through a very small valve."

Scarab Sages

That's what she said!

Scarab Sages

Last night we had spaghetti and meat sauce for dinner. The wife also popped some dinner bread in the oven. We had one piece of bread left. This morning, I packed it with my leftover lunch, but then the boy started whining that he wanted the bread to eat at daycare. To shut him up, I went ahead and surrendered it. Although, I did try to hit him with some guilt by telling him I would no longer have a lunch.

Karma was nice to me - while I was heating up my leftover spaghetti, the secretary came in with a box of baked goods for whomever wanted one. So I got a fresh-ish chocolate chip cookie.

Scarab Sages

And it looks like they caught the piece of shit who shot those people at the church prayer meeting in Charleston. Too bad he didn't resist arrest.

Scarab Sages

Whoa! Color me amazed!

Scarab Sages

looks around

Am I in the right place?

Scarab Sages

WTF NASA? Didn't you get the message?

"All these worlds are yours, except Europa. Attempt no landing there."

Come on, fellas. That's like opening Dracula's tomb. You just don't f@@%ing do it!

Scarab Sages

Yeah, I know. That was from one of Clarke's books. But, shit, why take chances.....?

Scarab Sages

Hopefully, it shall be a happy, wacky Friday.

Scarab Sages

Later tonight is Parent's Night Out with daycare. So the wife and I have tickets to go see Jurassic World.

The boy saw a TV commercial for the movie yesterday. His response? "That's some really big dinosaurs, daddy."

Scarab Sages

Jurassic World was awesome!!!

Scarab Sages

This weekend, I'm hoping to smoke a beef brisket, depending on whether they have a small-ish one at the store. Haven't decided how to prepare it yet. I've got a couple of marinades in a bag handy, which would make it easy. Or....I could do something from my new marinade book. That has several interesting recipes......

Scarab Sages

There are some things so ridiculous, I feel for the youth of today.

Scarab Sages

In this case, I'm speaking of some of the rather idiotic cartoons/toys they come up with. Seriously, WTF?!?

Scarab Sages

The boy was throwing a fit about his swimming lessons. I'm beginning to think it was a mistake. Not the lessons themselves, but where we enrolled him. The place used to be small time, but then they ended up training someone who went into the Olympics. Now it's expensive and (in my opinion) a little elitist. I don't think they really care about kids, just the hope of training the next great swimmer.

Scarab Sages

Woot!! Season 2 premier of Star Wars: Rebels!!!

One hour long!

Lando!

Darth Vader!!!

Jedi on Sith action!!!!

Scarab Sages

James Earl Jones - still one of the most badass voices in human history!!!

Scarab Sages

Got some gift cards for Father's Day.

Scarab Sages

Going to rotissirie a roast for dinner. Right now it's in a bag with some garlic balsamic marinade.

Scarab Sages

I was hoping to smoke a brisket, but the grocery store only had 4 and 5 pounders. That's way too much for what is essentially two people. Maybe some other weekend.
