Maybe its "find" or "with"....though I "find" my self in hell more often than w*** how can nurses be so stupid?! The fact that the nurses at my hospital are put I charge of people's lives fills me "with equal parts horror and amusement.

Naah, I know that Sharoth dude. It's "lack". He's always had something against it. Some unreasoning hatred rearing up from the labyrinthine depths of his soul, waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting object of his derision with a rage born in the deepest pits of Hell.

Scarab Sages

Also: Happy Friday!

Scarab Sages

Short, and not-so-short day today. Half-day at work, but many errands to run afterwards. Including possibly helping out a little old widow woman.

Scarab Sages

And getting stuff to make beer.

I'm proud of his rage against the word "lack", but it would be better put to use against the forces of Alton Brown.

Scarab Sages

Speaking of Alton, he called me to ask if he could get that pan back you borrowed from him two weeks ago.

I threw that pan at him and he ducked! HE stole the pan from ME!

Scarab Sages

'Tis Saturday!

I got a lot done yesterday: Four hours of work, Toys R Us to get some birthday presents, Barnes and Noble to pick up two new books, comic book store, lunch with the wife at Wacky Mongolian, trip to the brew store to pick up a new auto-siphon and ingredients for a barleywine style ale, home for a bit, then stops at the cleaners and the orthopedic office before picking up the kidlets.

Scarab Sages

I intend for today to be an equally busy day.

Scarab Sages

Tomorrow....I brew!

Scarab Sages

Have I mentioned how much I despise my piece-of-s&$& home computer? I really need to find a non-Geek Squad IT person who does house calls.

Why non-Geek Squad? Because I don't trust those little pricks. That's why.

Geek squad is so individual it's not funny. It might be wise to get the personal phone number of a geek squad guy you trust and contacting him personally.

I see letters forming words, but the words make no sense.

Woot! Baby girl is officially walking unaided!

She's a Walker!!!

Scarab Sages

Today I shall make beer!

Scarab Sages

This beer will be a Barleywine style ale. Got the recipe from a clone book. It recommends letting the beer sit for about 5 months to mature. Oddly enough, I have no problem with this.

Scarab Sages

Otherwise, it shall be a warm, yet somewhat gloomy day today.

Scarab Sages

Gloomy as in overcast.

Edit: Never mind. The sun is shining through!

Scarab Sages

Yesterday at the store, I picked up a bottle of Dogfish Head's latest ancient ale - Kvasir. It was brewed with cooperation from a Swedish Brewery and a biomolecular archaeologist. Brewed with lingonberry, cranberry, birch syrup, honey, cranberry juice and herbs. A surprisingly mild 10% ABV, with a good kick.

Definitely something to try again.

Scarab Sages

Sometimes, it's very sad to see seemingly intelligent people make idiotic strawman arguments.

Scarab Sages

And, on a more sober note, it's Monday! Huzzah!

Scarab Sages

Huzzah? Right?

Scarab Sages

I did a little brewing yesterday. It had been awhile. As always, I enjoyed it, but it took way longer than I anticipated.

The biggest factor, time wise, was getting the wort cooled down. I ended up having to stick the entire fermenter in the freezer for about 20 minutes.

But I already have a potential solution for the next brew. When the boil is done, you typically let the wort cool a bit before adding cold water. That was part of my problem last night, I only added cool water from the tap. Next time, I'm gonna fill a couple of gallon jugs from the tap, then stick them in the freezer to get them very cold (just not frozen). That should help a lot.

Scarab Sages

The only other thing I'm worried about is getting the fermentation going. I've got to hope the temperature in the house is cool enough.

That's something I can work on, but only to a limited degree. Don't want the wife to have another reason to complain.

Scarab Sages

Incidentally, the beer I made was a clone of Young's Old Nick Barleywine style ale. I had to make some adjustments to the recipe, based on availability, but it should come out pretty well.

One thing though, the recipe recommends letting it sit for about 5 months after bottling, just to age properly.

Will seek this out.

Dogfish Head. May have to go to Whole Foods for that.

I am planning to pick up a mix of guiness either this weekend or next. Want to get the glasses for guiness too.

Any decent beer store in the northeast should carry Dogfish Head, as they are based out of Delaware. Then again, you are in New York......

No thanks. Give me bright, sunshiny days. Even if it were cold, I'd be happy with sunshine. I'm like a plant, that way.

Scarab Sages

Ugh. Think I'm coming down with something....again. Damn this pestilence.

Scarab Sages

I blame my kids. They are walking piles of disease and filth.

Scarab Sages

Seriously, I could give one of them a bath....ten seconds later they are filthy again.

Scarab Sages

More meetings today. If everything goes as it must, I'll be in meetings from 0930 to 1130, then again from 1300 to 1600.

Heh, see I'm exactly the opposite. As long as it's warm, I'm happy, but I prefer it overcast. Mostly because bright light bothers me.

I love cool days where the sun is shining but we get a nice breeze that keeps everything perfect. Makes me want to lay out in the front yard...or go fishing...I'm off tomorrow....TROUT HERE I COME!!!!! Nothing like catching so many fish I have to put some back :)

Contrary to popular belief, I have nothing against bright and sunny days. I love autumn. I truly love winter. But what I love the most are four seasons, each in their time.

Dogfish Head is a quirky beer that can be hard to find. It only shows up in frou frou hoods.

And this is how I know you live in a really messed up city. One of the best craft breweries in the country, and you can only find it in "frou frou hoods"? That's sad.

Bah! Four seasons are overrated. Give me two and I'm content. Hot and not so hot.

Scarab Sages

The woman who works document control upstairs had a complaint about my buddy's lack of professionalism in an email he sent. While she was correct, she's hardly got room to talk, since she refuses to deal with him directly because he disagreed with her once on how a document should go out.

Scarab Sages

And it was very foggy this morning. Almost eerily so.

Scarab Sages

I kept expecting someone to tell me to stay off the moors.

Scarab Sages

All right, time to go continue making the world safe for beer drinkers.

to be honest, I have only relatively recently gotten into beer. Maybe I need to look around more.
