But not in a fine wine way.....
Whoa! Twenty+ pages of (mostly) my rambling crap.
I continue to admire the Flash TV show, but I was not particularly fond of this weeks villain. I've never been a big fan of Girder to begin with, and to make him a Colossus wannabe just seemed tacky.

But I'm really looking forward to when they finally introduce Gorilla Grodd.
Professor Zoom....I don't know. I've got mixed feelings about that.
The original was always better than the remake, however. The second Zoom they had doing stuff that didn't make sense. For example, he was shown creating shock waves by snapping his fingers - which would make sense IF he were moving them at an extreme velocity. But they began explaining his power as being temporal-based. So all he's actually doing is speeding up his own relative time, so that it appears he's moving faster than anyone else.
Meh, I guess it doesn't really matter anymore, since I don't collect Flash anymore.
By the way - Thanks douchebags at DC, for getting rid of the Flash I grew up with, just so you could bring back the dead one you grew up with.
A@@*%%&s.
Maybe I need more coffee.

GIT OFFA MAH LAWN!
I dread that day, Friend Monkey.
Speaking of "that day"....today's the day for a funeral. One positive....folks who have never seen or rarely seen my kids, will get to see them.
Yesterday was a looong day. Left Houston around 1:00 pm. The weather started off kind of sucky, but cleared up along the way. Traffic wasn't too bad most of the way. We took our time, and made good time.
Until we got to Baton Rouge.
I like Bobby Jindal, and think he's been an ok Governor of my state of origin. However, he can never be a great governor unless he helps solve the unholy shitstorm that is Baton Rough traffic.
After about an hour to go just a few miles, we got off at Lobdell, had Arby's for dinner at Love's, the got back on the road after another hour. Traffic still sucked, but was moving a little faster.
So we then ended up getting to my in-laws' house around 2100.
Amazingly enough, I had a good night's sleep on the futon here at my in laws' house.
My dad's funeral was yesterday. Tons of people showed up. It was a good send off. I saw a lot of relatives and friends I hadn't seen in years.
It was especially nice to see my paternal grandmother and my dad's sister. It had been way too long since I'd had a chance to sit and talk with either of them.
I did not bring the kids to the funeral. I did, however, bring them to the after funeral gathering at my aunts' house. Some folks got to see them for the first time. Everyone complimented me on how adorable they were.
Of course, they get that from me.
All in all, it was another looooonnnggg day. But it's over and done with now.
One last thing for the time.....the "urn" for my father's ashes. It was a beautifully simple, hand-crafted wooden box from Saint Joseph's Abbey. Really nice.

And....mayhap....some changes in life.

Just as a reminder....I love most of you.

Indeed, friend Monkey. The left one has been known to wreak havoc on occasion. Especially when it's been drinking.
Last night I inadvertently consumed most of the second bottle of mead I brought with me from Texas. The first bottle, of which I only drank a little, was left with my brother's for them to taste test.
Last night I also introduced my mother-in-law to Pacific Rim. I'll have to ask her again if she enjoyed it, since I don't remember if I asked her last night.
Thank the gods my in-laws keep a large supply of Gatorade, bottled water, and coffee.
Holy crap on a skateboard! Baby girl just grabbed her mommy's hands and started making them clap.

And it's looking to be a beautiful day today.
Not sure if I mentioned this, while we were driving in on Friday, my father-in-law had to be taken to the ER. He cut the back of his hand open and severed a tendon. Luckily, it didn't pop back too far and they were able to do a quick reattach. Today he goes and gets a better reattach job done.

Not sure if I mentioned this either:
My mom-in-law used to manage a Hallmark store. She left that to start her own business selling religious themed stuff. Apparently, they used to get all kinds people coming into Hallmark asking for that kind of stuff, but they never carried it there. And there was no other store like that in the area.
So she opened her own place. It's doing well so far. Business is slowly picking up.
Anyway, that's where my father-in-law was working when he cut his hand.
Pouring rain here. Boy the landscapers are surly today. Still willing to pay $10.25 for their smokes though.

Twas a lovely day here in Louisiana. The sun was shining. Birds were singing. Children were laughing and running in the warm fall air.
Also, there was Popeye's for lunch.
It was a beautiful thing.
Ye gods, though. My in-laws can be such jacknuts on occasion. There I was, trying to rock my baby girl to sleep, and these idiots insist on turning on the TV so they can watch the news about that crap in Ferguson. My father-in-law was even saying they should crank up the volume.
Finally, I had to get up, take baby girl into the bedroom and just lay with her until she fell asleep.
My mother-in-law is still glued to the TV. They made the announcement about that shit like 10 minutes ago, but she is apparently fascinated by the details. I for one could care less.
And where, you may ask, is my wife. She's over at her sister's house, with a bunch of other chicks. I believe they were going to drink wine, watch Dancing with the Stars, and generally do girly crap.
Must be nice to get away from the kids and have fun with other adults on occasion.
Of course, the wife was under the mistaken impression that, since I did some serious mead drinking last night, that tonight was "her turn" to do the drinking.
take another sip of beer
I don't know where she gets those silly ideas.
Before tonight, I was undecided as to whether we would go back to Houston on Friday or Saturday.
As of this moment, it's gonna be Friday.
My brother and I are trying to convince my mother to come back to Texas with us for a few weeks. Not sure if she'll actually do it. My secret weapon to try and convince her is my baby girl's birthday in a few weeks.
Picked up a new (to me) beer yesterday at the store and drank it last night. It's Abita's Imperator Black IPA. From the bottle.....
...In ancient times, The Imperator was the supreme commander who led his troops to victory, just as today's Mardi Gras lieutenants kick off the carnival parades. Abita Imperator™ is a robust, black IPA brewed with pale, caramel, chocolate and black malts. It commands your attention with an intense hop flavor and aroma provided by Apollo, Cascade, Centennial, Citra and Amarillo hops. With a mighty malt flavor and intense black color, Abita Imperator™ reigns supreme.
The Black IPA’s bold flavor profile pairs well with smoked duck and pork. It is a great after dinner or dessert drink, and chocolate desserts complement the flavors from the roasted malts used in the brew.
And, just perusing their website to grab those words, I came across another one they make which I had never heard of before - Wrought Iron IPA. I must search this out.
Baby Girl was attacked by a poop ooze this morning. It was nasty.
I shall now sing the beer song....
Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer! Beer!
I shall also have to try Abita's Bourbon Street Stout. 'Tis an imperial stout.
Ugh. Im at the dentist. No fun
Have I mentioned how surreal my life has gotten lately? Like I'm surfing a tide of chaos. It's exhilarating and terrifying at the same time.
You have my sympathies, brother Monkey. Being at the dentist's office typically sucks.
Yesterday was a pretty good day. Spent most of it over at my mom's house. My younger brother showed up with his wife and kids, and they brought lunch meat and such to make sammiches with. Huzzah!
Especially the Chisesi ham. Mmmmmm.........
