He was at least smart enough to not use water to try and put it out.
At first we tried smothering it. That didn't work too well, because we couldn't get anything to form a tight enough seal to deprive the fire of oxygen.
Then we were going to use the fire extinguisher from our trailer, but it wasn't charged up.
Finally, one of the other adult leaders unscrewed the nozzle from the fire extinguisher and poured the contents on the fire.
That worked.
Tuesday. Why'd it have to be....Tuesday?
Weird, but not unpleasant, dreams. Could have been a bit more interesting, but there are only so many hours in a night.
I think there were people in my dreams that I've seen before. Whether in real life, or just in dreams, I know not.
There are days when I'm tired of the same old routine. It gets very irritating after a while.

If it weren't for the fact I hate commies, I could almost appreciate the thought of a shorter work week.
Anyway, I have far too much stuff to accomplish. And probably not enough hours in the year to do it.
I wasn't expecting today to be busy, but it looks like that assessment was incorrect.
I ran a Board of Review last night for a scout who's only been in the troop for a year. It was for the Star Rank, which means he's only got two to go - Life and Eagle.
Granted, he's nearly 17 already, so he's still going to be cutting it close to get Eagle before he turns 18. Still, you've got to admire his determination.
Would that my own son had half as much focus on advancement.
My wife has jury duty today. It's about time.
She doesn't have to be down there until 12:30 this afternoon, though. Which is weird.
She stands a better than average chance of getting picked. It's happened before
Her first time out ever, she got picked for a murder trial.
Anyway....time to make more donuts.
I did it again! Posted a weird news story in the good news thread, and didn't even realize until this morning.
Yesterday was a good food day. Not good for me, but good tasting. Popeye's for lunch. Outback for dinner.
My supervisor contacted me late yesterday about redoing some calculations our former supervisor did. Unfortunately, (a) I'm not quite sure what calculations, and (b) although I think I know what software he used, I'm not sure I can still access it.
Oh well. Before my former supervisor left, I tried getting him to turn over access to the software in question to me. He just shrugged it off.
Yet another reason I think he was a piss poor manager.
Anyway, time for a few more posts, then maybe some new job hunting.
It's Friday! No matter what, that's typically reason to celebrate.
Although I did get some slightly sad news - the company I interviewed with awhile back has decided not to hire me.
So now the job hunt continues, but with a little more urgency. The new guy is starting soon.
It was a bit foggy this morning, though I didn't realize it until I got up to the interstate. Prior to that, the roads around aren't too well lit enough for me to have noticed the fog.
I think the fog is preceding a bit of a cool front, so temps might drop a bit. We're also due a bit more rain, I think.
Otherwise, the drive in was relatively not bad. Despite a few silly jackasses, getting in the way.
I don't expect a very busy day today. Yesterday was ho hum as well. Weird, because with my lead drafter out on vacation I expected this week to be horrific.
Could be they're keeping me out of projects. That's what the old engineering manager did.
Which sucks. I know I'm not the greatest engineer in the world, but I'm not that bad.
Anyway, happy thoughts. I'm trying to be more positive. Or at least more "not give a s~+%". I find it's less stressful.
And I could use less stressful somewhere in life. Lord knows there's enough stress to go around.
At least I get to go to the comic book store this weekend. I probably could have gone last Sunday, when we got back from the camping trip. I was too tired though.
And I'm nearly done with most of my prep work for the Scout Troop's Court of Honor next Tuesday. All I've got to do it pick up the remaining awards tomorrow, then divided them up into the envelopes for each scout, then order the pizzas.
I'm going to make my son help me with dividing up the awards for each scout. That way he can see how much more accomplished other scouts are. I'm hoping it will motivate him to at least try and achieve something.
It’s been a busy morning, but I’ve finally got a chance to slow down a bit.
Not much, mind you. Once I’m done with lunch I’ve got to start washing some clothes. And there’ll be some other minor chores around the house.
Some time after 1 pm, I’ve got a scout dropping off his Eagle Rank paperwork. I’ll get it scanned in, hopefully tomorrow, then email it to the offices on Monday so they can review it. Once it’s approved, we can work on getting his Board of Review.
And I’ve got at least one other scout working on his paperwork.
And I think I can finish off one of my maps today.
Tomorrow, I’ve got to divvy up all the awards for Court of Honor on Tuesday. I’ll get the boy to help with that.
It's going to be another busy day, but at least I shouldn't have to leave home. The weather sucks today.
And this sudden onset of cool temps and rain has got my allergies acting up. So I feel blah.
I'm trying to fight having a third cup of coffee this morning. I've been doing that too much lately.
Well, I had a fairly pleasant drive in to work this morning. So there's that.
We had a bit of a cool front come through over the weekend, however. Some rain on Friday and Saturday, along with cooler temps. Yesterday was sunny and in the 70s though. Good grilling weather.
Which is what I did for dinner. Marinated some chicken breasts in a molasses stout marinade all day, then through them on the grill for dinner.
