And if I close my laptop it completely shuts down.
All in all, very annoying.
Now I just have to wait for IT to come and try fixing this.
IN the meantime, I can at least get some work done. Thankfully, we mostly markup drawings digitally.
Although I kind of miss the old pencil and hardcopy method.
Ugh. It’s not even 8 am and I’ve already been “at work” for an hour and a half.
I put it in quotes because it’s work from home day.
We had horrific rain storms move through here overnight. Scared the bejeesus out of my poor dog. And we lost power for about 10 minutes.
And the office is out of power, so work from home is extra good today.
I’ll be camping this weekend with the boy and his scout troop. Hopefully it’ll go well.
Now I’m in the first of at least 4 meetings today.
I try not to say anything. Mostly for my own protection. My mouth tends to be a bit harsher these days.
My brother is supposed to be dropping off some camping gear for me to borrow. A hammock and tarp. Huzzah!
No more tent.
Also, today is 19 years since I quit smoking.
Ugh. I really hate meetings. Especially with this client. I don’t particularly like them.
I’m hoping this one won’t last the full hour it was scheduled.
One dude on the meeting has a poor connection. Every time he speaks we get static. Mrgh.
Okay…..
Maybe it will go the full hour.
Apparently, they started to construct one of the sites we designed, and the first tie-in point for the pipe was off by nearly 12 feet. It's an easy enough fix, but we're not sure how it happened.
Luckily, I know that whatever caused it wasn't my fault. I had nothing to do with locating the tie point.
I'm sure someone will try to find a way to blame me.
In the meantime, I interviewed with another company yesterday. Not ideal work, but it would be different. The interview went well, but I don't think I have enough FEA experience to be hired.
We'll see.
I've got a few other irons in the fire as well.
Ugh. I'm supposed to go camping with the scouts this weekend, but I'm really not feeling up to snuff.
No fever or anything, but just a general feeling of blah.
Granted, my sleep has been disrupted several times this week. And these days it's not as easy for me to get back to sleep as it used to be.
So that could help explain a lot of my blah feeling.
That, plus yo-yo temperatures, lingering pollen, and some rainy weather earlier in the week, all of which probably has my allergies haywire.
Plus my shoulder has been bothering me again. First time in a good while.
I've also been really tired recently. Even before the sleep disruptions this week, but especially since then. Last night I was ready to go to bed by 9:15.
I think I can also chalk some of my crappy feeling up to stress. Lots of that going on recently.
I might give it until noon and see how I feel. If I'm still too blah, I might head home early, then let the Scoutmaster know I can't go.
And I forgot to bring more of my own coffee to work today. After my first cup this morning I only have one K-cup left.
So if I stay through the end of the day, and want my afternoon cup of coffee, I'd have to use one of the "in house" K-cups.
That's not as bad a prospect as it used to be. Since I started here, they've replaced one of the less savory K-cup blends with something a little better.
Anyway, time to check some ISOs.
So….
I did end up going camping this weekend. And although I didn’t feel great, it’s still been a really good campout, with beautiful weather.
In fact, I’m currently sitting in the dark, waiting for everyone else to get up. I couldn’t sleep any longer.
I used a hammock instead of a tent this time. Borrowed one from my brother.
Not sure if I’ll do that again.
If I do hammock again, it’ll be my own. And I’ll buy one that’s super easy to set up.
Anyway, I’m going back to sitting in the dark. Can’t stay on the phone too long. Don’t want to eat up battery life too much. The only power in this campground is at the main facility. So if I want my phone charged, I’ve got to borrow an outlet in a truck.
Back at work after that very long weekend.
Hey, though! I slept REALLY well last night.
The dog was very excited to see me. My daughter....not so much.
If only because her brother and I arriving home signaled the end of "Girl's Weekend".
Had a pretty decent drive in this morning. Until I got close to the interstate. Then I ran into a bunch of people being slowed down by one or two jackasses.
I don't have much hope for work this week. My lead drafter/designer is out on vacation all week. Meaning his less competent compatriot is doing all the mechanical and civil drafting.
Didn't mention this before, but we had a bit of excitement on the campout. The Senior Patrol Leader, attempting to cook something, got his pot of oil caught on fire.
