Not quite Cheech and Chong high. Maybe more like Snoop Dogg high.
The boy got his cast off yesterday. After it was removed, they X-rayed it to make sure it was fully healed. He was having a little pain when he moved it certain ways, but the doctor said that's to be expected since his wrist was immobilized for so long.
Then yesterday evening he left with his troop to go to Martin Dies Jr. State Park for a weekend of camping.
And my wife promised my daughter we could watch Jurassic Park. So we watched Jurassic Park. I'm pretty sure it traumatized her.
Today should be a busy day.
Taking my truck in for an oil change.
Installing new smoke detectors.
Visiting the dry cleaners.
Tomorrow I've got to plant some new plants in front of the house, by order of the tyrants in the HOA.
I might actually try for some Azaleas. I've always loved them. The scent they give off when they bloom in the spring is awesome. Reminds me of my youth.
My (too) far in the past youth.
Anyway....when I was younger, the private school my dad sent us to had azaleas planted on the campus. When they bloomed in the spring, the smell would permeate the area between the Administration Building and High School Building.
At the same time, my parents had planted azaleas along the front of our house, so the smell would be at home as well....
So it ended up being one of my favorite scents.
Right up there with boiled crawfish and a sugar refinery.
The sugar refinery smell was also from my school days. The Domino's refinery was down the (Mississippi) river from my school. During the school year, my fellow Cross Country teammates and I would run past the refinery when we were training.
A long, and very busy, but good day. Especially with my score from the comic book store.
And now I’ve had dinner.
Mmmmm……grilled hot Italian sausage and potatoes.
Dinner did not…..go over well. It seems my stomach still had a bit more recovering to do.
Still, I wasn’t going to let that stop me from getting out front for some yard work this morning. Planted some new azaleas. Cleaned out some dead stuff. Did a little basic cleanup.
All that really wore me out.
I need to stop being so damned sedentary.
My baby girl has been into the old Batman Beyond animated series. I couldn’t be prouder. Just have to make sure she sticks to the old stuff. It was far superior to the crap they put out today.
They boy should be back home around noon from his camping trip.
Of course, he texted his mom saying he’d hurt his finger playing ball. That kid just isn’t much of an athlete.
Then again, I never let that kind of thing stop me much. I guess my generation was made of tougher stuff.
Or we were too stupid to know any better.
Definitely a bit of both.
Anyway, later this afternoon I’ve got some smoke detectors to replace.
Apparently, I hurt my hand yesterday. Must have been while I was doing yard work.
Thankfully, it's just the left hand.
I did not replace my smoke detectors yesterday. They're hardwired in to the house, and the instructions say only a qualified electrician should do it.
I know I'm more than capable of doing the job. I'm leery, however. If I do it myself I'm worried it might mess with how our homeowners insurance works.
And my GI system is acting up again. Not sure if it's just from dinner Saturday night (it started shortly thereafter), or just the return of what was bothering my most of last year.
It's always something.....
Stoopid smoke detector. Another one went bad in the middle of last night, just before 2 am. It was easy enough to find and dismantle, but I didn't get back to sleep until sometime shortly after 3 am.
The wife and boy didn't have that problem.
And my daughter didn't even wake up.
So I'll be dragging ass most of the day. And I was already feeling kind of blah.
At least I had an easy drive in.
Except for some moron on the interstate going far too slow. She shouldn't have gotten on, if she was going to create a hazard like that.
And then here at work, while getting my morning coffee, I checked the news.
HOLY CRAPCAKES ON FIRE! That bridge collapse in Baltimore was scary as hell.
Work from home Wednesday. Again.
I always seem to get a slower start to my work day when I work from home.
However, I also tend to stay logged on well past an 8 hour work day.
Back in the 40s again this morning, with a projected high in the mid-60s. By the weekend we'll have highs in the 80s and lows in the 60s.
