One of my former co-workers, who had moved to the company's other Houston office before I was let go, has moved back to the main Houston office. This coincides with two occurrences:
1 - She and her husband bought a house. This house is closer to the main Houston office.
2 - The powers that be of the company are finally closing the second Houston office, after finally realzing what a colossal mistake it was to even open it. To think, if they'd been smart enough to not even bother opening it in the first place, many who once worked for them might still have jobs.

I was watching a classic John Wayne movie last night, In Harms Way, and one particular scene reminded me of another WWII movie I hadn't seen in forever - Attack Force Z.
That movie was from 1981, and had Mel Gibson, John Philip Law, and Sam Neil (among others). It was about Australian commandos fighting against the Japs. Great movie.
Now, however, I find myself considering a quest to find some way to watch it.

Having been watching reruns of Supernatural, yesterday I found myself (for the first time in a good while) actually contemplating the development of a campaign based on that show. It probably won't work to well with the Pathfinder rules, too much high level magic. You'd have to have some ridiculous level restrictions.
The old Iron Heroes system designed by Mike Mearls would probably work better. Or something like it. That one had an emphasis on martial classes. I recall it had magic, but it was extremely difficult to use and unreliable. My old Philly group played that system for a bit. It was fun.

Anyway, all that popped into my head before I went for one of my constitutionals yesterday. Then, while I was walking, I sort of ignored the Supernatural aspect and just sort of started mapping out a campaign setting in my head. Maybe I'll eventually do an actual, full-blown map for it. Just for shits and giggles.

Earlier, while the kids were upstairs quietly watching Pokémon, I caught on Godzilla against Mechgodzilla, from 2002. Fun movie. My boy was sorry he missed it. Luckily, there are two other Godzilla movies coming on, so I set them to record. He and I can watch them tomorrow. The weather is supposed to be crappy anyway.

You could never know what it's like
Your blood like winter freezes just like ice
And there's a cold lonely light that shines from you
You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use
And did you think this fool could never win
Well look at me, i'm coming back again
I got a taste of love in a simple way
And if you need to know while I'm still standing you just fade away
Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
Once I never could hope to win
You starting down the road leaving me again
The threats you made were meant to cut me down
And if our love was just a circus you'd be a clown by now
Don't you know I'm still standing better than I ever did
Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid
I'm still standing after all this time
Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah
I'm still standing yeah yeah yeah

And, in my humble opinion, Rogue One is #2 on my list of Star Wars Movies.
Since you asked ...
- 1. Empire Strikes Back
- 2. Rogue One
- 3. Star Wars
- 4. The Force Awakens
- 5. Return of the Jedi
- 6. Phantom Menace
I cannot vouch for Clone Wars, as I walked out of the theater halfway, and I never saw the third movie in the prequels.

Disney can do grimdark.
Bambi
Were they responsible for Old Yeller? I want to say yes.
Exactly. And yet, without fail, when they acquired both Marvel and Star Wars, there was nevertheless a great wailing and gnashing of teeth that both properties would "kidified". And there I was, thinking to myself "Clearly these people have never familiarized themselves with Disney's very dark side."

Do you ever think just how terrifying a moose is?
I know my Canadian relatives are pretty scared of them. Especially of running into them in a car. It's a major source of road fatalities up there. Plus, I guess they are stubborn, ornery and downright mean creatures. You don't want to be caught outside with one. They are liable to charge.

My father-in-law hunted and killed a moose. It's head is mounted and hung in his living room. Just that alone is f@$!ing huge. I can only imagine what it's like to confront a live one.
Still, something like that reminds me of years ago, back in my early days living in Philly. One of my co-workers was sharing pictures from a buddy of his. This dude had been up in Alaska (I think), doing some hunting, and was charged by a kodiak bear. So he had to kill it, or die. That f*&$ing thing was gigantic. It's paw was bigger around than the guy's head.
It just goes to show - nature has produced some downright monsters.

The boy woke up during the night with a fever. SO we kept him home from school today. It was Field Day. They do...stuff. And parent's are invited. My wife had signed us up to be there, something she finally got around to letting me know last night.
Long story short, I am somewhat relieved we had to keep him home.
