Buying fireball balls for the necklace of fireballs

That's a lot of balls in one sentence.

Anywho, its a simple question really. The description of the necklace of fireballs states:

Quote:
Spheres come in different strengths, ranging from those that deal 2d6 points of fire damage to those that deal 10d6. The market price of a sphere is 150 gp for each die of damage it deals.

Seeing as one sphere costs 150 gp for each die of damage it deals. Should I technically be able to buy for example a ball for 10d6 damage for the price of 1500 gp? Of course I'm assuming it's at a magic store or something similar and the price isn't changed at that point.

In my games yes.

I also allow crafting them at half prize (craft wonderous) up to your own max dmg die...

Okay cool but is it legit according to the CRB and what not or is it something that the GM would decide on his own?

It is not a stand alone item in the wondrous table so it isn't an explicitly legal option from the CRB. If you were crafting, I would say you have much better ground to stand on because it prices out exactly as a use-activated device. In either case you will need to get a DM approval and you will not have a passage in the CRB to point at and say, "it says right here that I totally can do it!"

Or if you're asking for PFS, I actually had the same thought a couple years back, but it's not legal; you have to buy one of the listed "Types" of necklaces.

300 gp for a 2HD fireball? I've had characters rich enough to go out and buy a wheelbarrow-full of the things. I don't like to think about what would happen if I tripped pushing the thing around, but it would be worthwhile once I had a sling, the Rapid Reload feat and a widespread reputation as "that pyro nutcase with the Wheelbarrow of Pain."

Make the character a goblin and watch as your enemies flee.

Remember, in Goblin, the word "friend" is based on an older word that means "somebody you try not to hit with the splash damage."

Sometimes where the boom-boom blows
Is not my fault; that's how it goes!

Remember... send the goblin first, wait for the boom, then go in to see who survived ;)
