Bucking a stereotype?(Building a Brute Male Witch)

Advice

Hi boards! Currently working on a 25 point buy, level 15 Scarred Witchdoctor. He is a Half orc whom I envision using metamagic rods of quicken, the transformation spell and buffs, oh and a +? Spell storing/impact/keen adamantine great axe.

Stats at 15th

Str 16

Dex 14

Con 20(26)

Int 12

Wis 11

Cha 10

HP:205 Feats:Toughness(1)Extra Hex(3)power attack(5) furious focus(7)quicken spell(9)craft rod(11)improved initiative(13)vital strike(15) for traits I would do reactionary and indomitable faith. For alternate racial I took sacred tattoo and shamans apprentice. All favored bonuses to hp(included). There's more but looking for advice/feedback, thanks.

Fate's Favored is a better trait for you.

It pumps Divine Favor, and your racial bonus to saves.

Awesome! I feel like I should add a jingasa and maybe cords of stubborn resolve instead of cloak of resistance? Well maybe not the cords.

well, a dip in barbarian might be a good choice... 1 level would set your new spell levels back to the character level where sorcerers gain them (and reduce hex DCs by 1/2), but that gives you access to rage. you can't cast spells in rage but its a great option to kick on after you've activated transformation, plus you could take raging vitality and you're con would increase by 6 while raging... i can't find anything that stops you from using hexes during rage so you could even burn rage sometimes just to up your hex DCs.

the only issue i see is that combining a rod user with a 2HF build means that you're either going to not threaten (and be unable to attack) a lot of the time or have to work out some kind of quickdraw/weaponcord non-sense (where you have rods tied to you so you can quickdraw them, use them, then drop them as a free action so you can regrasp your weapon as a free action).

Consider carrying a x4 weapon, to Coup de Grace opponents you have put to sleep.

Also, consider Ability Focus, for one of your focused Hexes.

I could swap improved init for QuickDraw... :)

efficient quiver for rods/wands/staffs/bows/arrows...:-D)

Theres also quickened true strike with vital strike and power attack.

Spring-Loaded Wrist Sheathes work with Rods.

5gp.

Huh. Just looked it up on d20pfsrd it said 20?

I'm playing a male half-orc Witch at the moment though non-archetyped and following a more traditional Witch build. Unless there's RP reasons for dropping orc ferocity in favour of sacred tattoo (which for me there was)I'd keep the former given your build concept.

BBT is right. Fate's Favored is a good trait for you. If you take it, I suggest that you seriously consider Sacred Tattoo as well. Ferocity is nice, but you need to maximize your benefits from Luck bonuses with this class.
Divine Favor is going to be an important buff, since you're only 1/2 BAB. The Strength patron provides this, and it's the easiest way to add this spell to your list. That patron seems to fit your character concept too.

Think about optimizing for Intimidate. There are a bunch of Intimidate discussion threads on these boards that can help. As a level 1 half-orc scarred witch doctor, you begin with a +8 bonus. There are other shenanigans that you can do to raise this even higher. If you take Dazzling Display it could end up being awesome. Only two feats invested... how cool would that be? A witch doctor doing some kind of a scary tribal war dance for an AOE debuff!

Fate's Favored also applies to Harrowing if you want to go that route. You could probably persuade your GM to substitute 'throwing bones' or gutting a small animal to study its innards a la Natural Divination to get the bonuses.
Sounds like something a Scarred Witch Doctor would do.

2 levels in Barbarian let you get Clear Headed (or whatever) which lets you "pause" rage for 1 round, so you could cast, etc.

Hexes are generally (Su), so they may not require "concentration" so you might be able to do them while raging.

Imagine how creepy a raging witch doctor barbarian using the Cackle Hex would be!!!!

But you would lose 2 levels of spellcasting (probably should take Magical Knack then) and reduce Hex DCs by 1 (except when raging, it would be +1 or 2 (if you have Raging Vitality) from Con increase...

+1 on the barbarian dip--i'd say go urban barbarian since you can still cast in controlled rage (afaik), and you can put all your points into CON bonus. tack on raging vitality for extra CON as well.

Prestiging into Evangelist would improve your BAB and hit die at the cost of a feat and a caster level.

You could also go Eldritch Knight for full BAB, but then I believe you'd lose your hex progression.

Well I'm staying single class , I did go strength patron so I can brew potions of bull strength for transformation. Looking at a flying cauldron as my chariot :) . Extended mage armor on the daily , bull's strength, greater heroism, divine power and transformation if need be and plenty of escape/heal options. All in all shaping up nicely. Oh, taking fates favored as well ;).
