Dwarven Reach Oracle of Metal

Advice

Shadow Lodge

Hello all,

A fellow player as issued me a challenge, to make a Dwarf Oracle of Metal or Stone. I thought this might be a chance to use my favorite weapon, the Dwarven Longaxe. The campaign this will be for starts at level 1 with 20PB 150Starting Gold.
So, I was wondering how might be a good way to do this. My biggest issue here is stats. I'm thinking one of the following

Str15
Dex13
Con14
Int10
Wis10
Cha14

Str16
Dex10
Con14
Int10
Wis10
Cha14

Str14
Dex14
Con14
Int10
Wis10
Cha14

The last is the most well-rounded, but the 14Str I will be stuck with for a while[it takes a while to get a belt of giant strength in my local gaming groups]. The middle is better for damage, but I don't qualify for Combat Reflexes[which is a big deal for reach builds]. Then the first, which I am leaning towards for the higher Str while still qualifying me for Combat Reflexes[even if its only 1 extra AoO].

Also, beyond the Skill At Arms Revelation[which I plan on taking @level 1], I'm not sure what else I should take, and I am completely stuck for feats beyond Combat Reflexes and Steel Soul.

Thoughts/Advice?

Dance of Blades is solid and bumps you up to average human speed even in heavy armor. Armor mastery is okay early if you put points into dex or later after you pick up stat bonus belts maybe. I like Iron Skin and Iron Constitution is a better version of Great Fortitude after it caps out at 14.

I'd dump either Wis or Int to pay for extra Str, Cha, or Con.

I also don't really see the point in going for Combat Reflexes on such a character, you'll be spread too thin and I find the feat to not be that good unless you're going full on with it and trying to pull off something special like say a Trip+Reach build but YMMV.

As far as feats I like Furious Focus + Power Attack and Weapon Focus on a combat oriented Oracle for the first 4 levels PA+FF is pretty much a straight +3 and for the next 3 levels it's +6 to damage for 2 feats which isn't bad. After that it's value drops a bit because of secondary attacks but even then it's like having Vital Strike in that you're a bit more effective when moving than otherwise.

If you are going for a maneuver build with reach those feats would be necessary as would Combat Reflexes and the Steel Scarf Revelation ends up pretty neat.

Other decent feat options include Eldritch Heritage feats to get Orc or Abyssal I think which have Str bonuses built in and in theory your Cha is going to have to keep up at around that level if you intend to cast higher level spells.

Thanks for the input.

Dance of blades does look rather nice, as does Iron Skin. Iron Constitution I don't think I'll need too much, since between Steel Soul and a decent Con, I think Fort shouldn't bee too much of a problem. Maybe if I am stuck for a revelation.

As for Combat Reflexes, I was thinking of using it with the Dwarven Longaxe and Dwarven Boulder Helmet[threaten up-close] to allow for a decent donut of AoO generation, along with being able to trip[even without the feats, tripping is great at low levels]. Even just 1 more AoO/round means that at low levels I can get a free attack for some nearby allies, and my normal attack, all against a lower AC, and I can interrupt movement with an AoO.

Power Attack+Furious Focus is a neat trick, but I see that on too many of my characters[pretty much every melee with a 2h weapon], and I think there might be some better ways to spend it. Such as Extra Revelation and Steel Soul.

As to dumping Int/Wis, I already planned on a 10Wis, which for a Dwarf is dumping to 8[not going for 9 because I don't want the will save penalty, I'm a little bit paranoid about will saves]. And Int I might drop down to 8, but I kinda want all the skills I can get.

Also, I noticed another problem, I have no idea about what I should go with for a Curse. I would normally go with Dance of Blades+Lame Curse so that I would have no penalty, but in this case I'd still by 5ft behind. Beyond that, I am debating between Haunted, Tongues, or other. Haunted seems like only a minor penalty, since the disarm/drop thing can be negated by armor spikes and I don't often have to draw items, but that would make potions of enlarge person hard to retrieve. Any ideas anyone?

Go for Str. You will be a buffing (probably self) so you don't need DCs. Before you get third level spells (requiring Cha of 13), you will be level 6. You can get a headband of Cha before then. You only need Cha 12.

18 Str 12 Dex 14 Con 8 Int 9 Wis 12 Cha with Str at levels 4 and 8. Str Belt as soon as you can afford, after you buy a Cha headband

Steel Soul for Feat at level 1.

Warrior of Old and Defensive Strategist for Traits.

Dual Cursed for Misfortune revelation at level 1

Legalistic and Tongues (Tongues does not improve) for curses

Metal is better than Stone, IMHO. Battle would be best, but what can ya do.

I don't think an 18Str is ever really worth it[before racial modifiers]. The difference is only 1 attack and 2 damage, which while nice, is not needed, especially at low levels where just plain damage dice[d12] can drop creatures in 1 hit. Maybe a 17, but that's a stretch.

As for traits, Defensive Strategist looks great, thanks for the tip.

Not sure on Dual-Cursed as it replaces my revelation spells[and I rather like Lead Blades and Keen Edge. I do know how powerful Misfortune is, but I think I'd rather pass. I also don't think I'll go for Legalistic, because I have had several instances in PFS where I would be completely incapable of keeping my word, and while sickened itself isn't so bad, it makes it easy to become nauseated[which has also been a frequent problem].

For Stats, I think I might go with

Str16
Dex13
Con14
Int10
Wis10
Cha13

so I can qualify for Combat Reflexes. Level bumps would go in Cha and Dex. I'm also considering dropping Combat Reflexes and going with

Str16
Dex12
Con15
Int10
Wis10
Cha13

Keeping AC/Initiative the same while letting me get more HP [as in this I'd bump Con].

@OP: You've obviously given this PC lot of thought. Looks like a strong addition to any group. I have no advice.
