Rogue Positioning Attack question

I am looking at the next rogue talent that I want to get and I am leaning towards the Positioning Attack talent.

Positioning Attacks states: "Once per day, when a rogue with this talent hits a creature with a melee attack, she can move up to 30 feet without provoking attacks of opportunity. The movement must end in a space adjacent to the creature hit with the melee attack."

So just to clarify, can you move to become in base contact with an enemy, conduct the melee attack and then complete the move granted by positioning attack? It didn't say in the description of positioning attack whether or not you could move before completing the melee attack.

You basically get 30ft free movement without AoOs as soon as you hit an enemy with a melee attack. This can be after a move action and single attack or after a full attack. You can also use this ability after a successful AoO because it is a melee attack.

I've always assumed that it is:

1) free 30' movement
2) does not count against your movement for the round
3) does not count against the number of swift/immediate/standard/move equivalent actions you can take in the round

if any of those are not true, then the talent is even worse than it's current awful existence due to the 1/day limitation.

The ability would have to specifically say it bypasses the rule for only moving once per turn, and it does not have that clause. If that is the intent, then it needs to be rewritten.

PS:I know that my interpretation makes it not worth taking, and the RAI may grant free movement. In an actual game I would go against my interpretation.

Because you have to end up adjacent to the creature you just hit with the melee attack I think the purpose is to get a free 30' worth of movement in order to circle round and get a flank.

Sure hope you're not a rogue with a reach weapon either.

Surely there is another Talent you could get some use out of?
