Hey all, I’ve got a character concept that I’m working on but I’ve hit a little roadblock.
(If this is posted in the wrong place, please forgive.)
I’d like to build a Varisian Tiefling Alchemist with the Crypt Breaker archetype. His back story is that he’s a Thassilonian scholar/expert who’s been recruited by the Pathfinders. Here’s the roadblock: I can’t find a way for him to get the Thassilonian language. It’s not available as a racial bonus language for Tieflings, nor for a Tiefling with high intelligence. Also, per the CRB, it’s not one of the languages you can learn when you put a point in Linguistics.
I guess I could just make him without knowing the Thassilonian Language but then he wouldn’t be much of a Thassilonian scholar/expert would he?
So… is there any other way (short of a boon I don’t have), or is there a rules exception I don’t know about? He’d got to be Society legal.
I realize I could change him to a different race that allows any bonus language with a high enough Int. but I’d really like to keep him Tiefling.
Any advice would be appreciated.
How can a Tiefling learn Thassilonian?

Just put a rank into Linguistics, or get a Headband of Vast Intelligence.
Edit: assuming you own a copy of The Inner Sea World Guide.
Please note my original post:
" Also, per the CRB, it’s not one of the languages you can learn when you put a point in Linguistics. "The Core Rule Book notes specific languages that you can learn through the Linguistics skill and Thassalonion isn't one of them.

There are quite a few languages not found in the CRB.
Hence why you would need to own a copy of The Inner Sea World Guide.
Edit:
Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea World Guide
Domains: Scalykind and Void domains; Equipment: all weapons, armor, and adventuring gear on pages 290–293 with the following restrictions: No character may purchase a firearm unless she possesses the Gunsmithing feat and firearms are never considered Always Available; Feats: all feats on pages 284–289 except Eye of the Arclord, Fortune Teller, Hamatulatsu, Harrowed, and Shade of the Uskwood. For the Cypher Magic feat, replace the Scribe Scroll prerequisite with Spell Focus; Gods: All gods listed in the tables on pages 229, 231, and 234; Languages: all languages on page 251 may be learned via the Linguistics skill; Magic Items: goz mask, unguent of revivification, wayfinder, zoic fetish; Prestige Classes: Hellknight, Low Templar; Races: All human ethnicities are legal except Azlanti, humans begin play knowing all listed languages for their chosen ethnicity as racial languages; Spells: all spells on pages 294–297 except harrowing, extraplanetary teleport, and teleport trap

And as an addition to Nefreet's post (congrats on the fourth star, btw)
Your race and class selection impact what languages you start with. All characters gain Common as a free language. You gain free languages granted by your race, ethnicity (for humans), and class (e.g., Druidic for druids). If you have a high Intelligence modifier, you may select bonus languages from those listed in your race’s entry in the Core Rulebook and the Modern Human Languages list (The Inner Sea World Guide 251). Certain classes grant access to additional bonus languages (e.g., Draconic for wizards). Humans and half-elves with high Intelligence scores may learn all the above languages as bonus languages as well as any other language except Druidic and the languages listed under Ancient Languages on page 251 of The Inner Sea World Guide. All languages except Druidic are available by putting a skill rank in Linguistics (see below). Tian characters receive the languages Tien and Common for free.
Bolding mine, as a clarification in the first sentence on bonus languages [any] and in the second sentence to what you can get with a rank in linguistics.

I recommend getting the ISWG PDF because it's $9.99, portable (phone, laptop, tablet, whatever), and you can print out the pages you need and place them with the character.

Thanks for all your advice everyone. I do own the Inner Sea World Guide, however, the Thassalonion language isn’t listed on page 251.
So… How can a Tiefling learn Thassilonian?? Any other ideas?
My Inner sea world guide has it there on page 251. It is at the bottom on the left hand column.
Edit: Dylos beat me to it.

There is no rule that limits Tieflings from learning any language.
Any race may learn an ancient language by either A) putting a rank into Linguistics or B) finding a magic item that permanently increases your Intelligence.
Such items include (but are not limited to) a Headband of Vast Intelligence, a Scarlet and Blue Sphere Ioun Stone, or a Headband of Aerial Agility.
And you must own any PFS legal source that lists Thassilonian as an available language.
Once you have those two elements, you're good to go.
