what does the duelist prc have that the swashbuckler doesn't?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

One of the first character concepts that I ever wanted to put together on these boards was a halfling duelist. I figured I'd go dervish of dawn 5/lore warden 5/duelist 10.

After having looked over the swashbuckler advanced class, I'm not seeing any reason to enter the pretige class, rather then go full swashbuckler (this isn't a bad thing). My question is, "Is there something I'm overlooking, or is the swashbuckler a superior option to the duelist class"?

Swashbuckler and the new Ustalovin duelist are both better than that PrC.

Liberty's Edge

Duelist adds Int to AC, which Swashbuckler doesn't.

That's not enough reason to go Duelist over Swashbuckler IMO.

that is kinda the point of making it a base class......

Dark Archive

I know nothing of this Ustalavin duelist. What book is it from?

Learned duelist from Inner Sea Combat?

They have to change names to avoid copyright violation.

The point is to people not have to waitin order to PRc. People wnat to play swaschbuckling characters right from the begining.

By the way Ustalavian duelist are pretty lackluster by themselves, with he swashbucler class they will become pointless.

I actually don't hate the learned duelist, but i admit it is kinda lackluster. I do like that it makes the vital strike chain at least a little more attractive, and i think its a place to start with homebrewing.

Sweet lvl 20 halfling swashbuckler it is :)
