Optimizing Necromancers

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So, as we all know, necromancy is one of the weaker schools of Wizardry, but if you had to play a Necromancer, how would you best optimize it?

What I got so far is:

Jiang-Shi-born Dhampir w/FC bonus: Gives a :2 Int/+2 Dex (which is perfect) and a +1/4 CL for necromancy spell

Cruoromancer Archetype: can create a MASSIVE number of undead, increase DCs by 1 (for the kill spell types), can add desecrate to a spell, or Auto SIcken for 1 rd.

Spell Focus (Necro)

Bloat Mage Initiate (Necromancy)

Varisian Spell Tattoo (Necromancy)

You guys have any other suggestions? (Oh! and 20 pt buy, level 10)

I'm not sure "as we all know" is accurate in the slightest. Focusing on the curse side of necromancy can be pretty devastating with its debuff spells. They're save or suck but if you fail you're gonna wish you hadn't pissed off the necromancer.

Scarab Sages

You might look into a 1 lvl dip into Black-blooded Juju Oracle. The Spirit Vessels revelation gives you 6 HD/CL when necromancing, and Maximized HP on zombies. You'll also get a few casts of inflict light wounds (and allow you to use wands). (and orisons, more free spells = more utility)
It also lets you use Extra Revelation to get Command Undead channeling.

Downsides are -4 to dex skills, having to invest a couple points into CHA, and the missing level of wizard casting progression.

Also make sure to pick up an Anatomy Doll: infinite fast healing 1, but it takes a standard action and you're sickened while healing. (warning, your DM might be upset if he doesn't like free healing)

Anybody who wants to maximize a necromancer should go look at the necromantic magic book from encyclopedia arcane, all kinds of neat goodies.

Shadow Lodge

Reach Spell (Lesser Rod, feat)
Magical Lineage: Bestow Curse or Enervation + Reach Spell can be nice.
