Chill Touch and Rime Spell question

I keep seeing this combo all over the place and everyone seems to see this is working just fine, but i dont see how.

Chill Touch does not have [cold] anywhere in its description that i can find and does not do cold damage, so how are people coming to this conclusion?

You are correct, and some others are wrong. Rime spell and chill touch do not work together, though I can see the confusion since chill touch does imply cold...

Personally, I use frostbite, which has a lot more to the combination other than just rime spell.

I was originally going to take Rime spell on my necromancer, but then I saw that it does not work.

Chill Touch used to do cold damage in 2ed, but it was changed to negative energy in 3ed, for whatever reason.
