I have some questions about starting PFS at conventions.
As we just started the first chapter in the province i am from i was looking for some ensign as to how we should try and set things up with conventions.
Should we be looking at it as Volunteer work? or setting up a booth of some sort?
I don't think i'm getting across my message to the people who run the cons in my area as to what i want to do. I would like to know how other people do it so i can start off on the right foot.

Are there already other RPG sessions offered at these conventions? If you want to add a few PFS games into the RPG schedule of an existing con, there should be a way to submit games that you want to run, either through a web form, or via email, or by bringing along a printed out sign-up sheet, so that the organisers can allow players to sign up. Even if con organisers haven't dealt with PFS before, they'll probably be familiar with the concept of organised play RPGs (e.g. Living Greyhawk).
You shouldn't need your own booth or anything like that, unless there are no RPGs at all at the convention. The organisers will hopefully make sure you have a table for your game, and that the players who sign up know where to go (and when).
If it's more than just you GMing PFS, you could even get organised with the other GMs to make sure you're offering a selection of different scenarios, and you have a single event code that all the games will be reported to.
Does that all make sense? Feel free to ask more questions here. You might also try contacting your nearest regional co-ordinator for advice specific to your area.

Unfortunately the two conventions that are going on here don't have anything set up for table top let alone PFS. i know that we have GMs, but i don't think the convention is going to know what to do with us, like whether to treat us as volunteers or make us pay to use the space.

Even if they can't be there in person, they might be able to offer help with getting con organisers on board with having PFS at their events, and maybe with getting con support (boons, etc.) for your games.
