It is my great honor to announce Seth Gipson as our newest five-star GM, earning it this past weekend at Winter War gaming convention in Champaign, IL
Seth is not only a great GM, always providing his players an awesome experience with challenging encounters and fun role-play, he is the Venture-Lieutenant for Southern Illinois in Carbondale, IL. His tireless efforts are an inspiration to all organizers. I had the pleasure of first meeting Seth a few years ago at one of his local events and despite his "newness" as an organizer and PFS GM, it was a great experience. Ever since, it has been an honor to be among his friends.
I encourage anyone traveling through the Carbondale area to attend one of his events. You will have a great time. And if you see him on the GM roster of a convention, sign up to play at his table. It will be a memorable experience.
Thank you Seth for your continuing commitment to the Pathfinder Society and congratulations on earning your 5th star!!!

Thanks everybody!
What's been your play-to-GM ratio?
What good ideas have you swiped from other GMs?
Have there been any bad experiences you've promised never to inflict on your players?
What's the next goal?
Good ideas: I looked at my play and GM numbers not too long ago, since I wanted to make sure I had everything in line aside from 150 tables. I think Ive currently played around 80 scenarios. It sounds like a pretty good ratio, but I played exclusively for awhile before picking up the GM mantle, so the balance of play to GM is much heavier on the GM side of things lately. At least at home. At cons, I try to play more.
Good ideas: I was a diehard initiative board user til a combination of you (Chris), Bob, and Kristen converted me to using cards. Outside of that, I'd probably have to think about it while prepping or while during an actual session I am GMing. Im sure Ive taken things, but its hard to come up with them when Im not in that setting.
Bad experiences: As a player, I find box text to be pretty boring at times, even more so if the GM is monotone. Ive unfortunately sat under at least a couple GMs who seem to have this issue, so I do my best to avoid it. I try to use inflection in my words, and actually do the actions described in the box text if possible (Kreighton Shane standing on the table is probably out of the question most of the time).
Next goal: Make another Paizo account and get that one to five stars....er...I mean....
1. Foster good GMing habits in my aspiring local GMs.
2. Play more.
Edit: 3. Hopefully have another increasingly successful Egypt Wars convention (April 11-13 this year!)

You arent 'aspiring' anymore. I meant the new, less experienced ones...like Tarma. :P
Congrats Seth!
But now that you're a 5-star, don't think that we're going to take it easy on you ;)
Oh, you. ;)a
