Bingo. Courage is the mastery of fear, not the absence of it. Someone who was truly fearless would simply be insane and die very quickly, because he'd be like 'oh, I'm not afraid of getting run over by a milk truck'.
i guess it comes down to how you understand the pally's aura of courage... if its a granted ability that makes you completely fearless, yes- that requires no bravery (but would probably get you dead quick); if its a mastery of your fear so strong and deep that it supernaturally inspires greater courage in others then that is ultimate bravery. i guess i tend to favor the latter... (though i like the idea of building very different pallies using different 'versions' of powers like that...)
I interpret it as an effect that protects you from magical fear spells, mind-control kind of stuff. It doesn't make you immune to the voice in the back of your head that tells you a full-frontal assault against an ancient red dragon is a bad idea.

there's this little voice In the back of my head that says "this is a bad idea" but there's a even louder voice that makes me wanna slap a dragon (was gonna go with cat in the har let the kid drive one but I decided against it)

Silver Crusade

You can also be a holy vindicator(prestige class) crusader (cleric archetype) serving a "darker"deity such as Pharasma. And then you also have the Hellknight prestige class. Or Abadar's paladins.

What I'm thinking right now is: Paladin (Sacred Servant) 10/Gray Guard 10, taking the True Death Inquisition as my Domain from Sacred Servant. Probably Human, but I could also go Aasimar. I like the Angel-Blooded Aasimar for the +2 STR and CHA. If I went that route, I'd likely take the Deathless Spirit, Immortal Spark, and Scion of Humanity alternate racial traits.

Any suggestions on race?

You can know it's a bad idea to frontally assault an ancient red dragon without being afraid of it (or afraid of death). Attacking a red dragon head on isn't brave, it's stupid. "Not afraid of death" != "I'm going to do stupid things that ensure I die, and likely drag the whole party down with me."
