the blog did whet my appetite as well.
I don't know. Cheliax has that passable air shaft vibe if you ask me.
And Hellknights so violate the "my Legions of Terror must wear helmets with clear plexiglass faceplates" rule.

Reading the description of Andoran in the Gazetteer gave me the overwhelming urge to stand on a hilltop someplace, waving a flag over my head while screaming "FREEDOM!!" at the top of my lungs. Reading the faction entry on the blog damn near had me buying a blue coat and taking to the hills with a musket and tomahawk.
In short, I like Andoran. Screw the Chelaxians. Oh, wait, the devils are already doing that for us. XD

After Watching that special on HBO about John Quicy Adams I have to say that that's where my interest lies. (not very fantasy minded, but it works for me.) Liberty!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quibble: The HBO miniseries was "John Adams", JQA's dad.
Andoran does indeed look like a very intriguing faction. There is no reason why an "enlightened" democracy cannot exist in a fantasy world like Golarion. The range of cultural development seems to stretch all the way from tribal (Varisia) through imperial (Osirion) to medieval/renaissance (Cheliax) and beyond.
What will be interesting is seeing how this Andoran populism may be corrupted into a radical social evangelism, that drives them into direct conflict with "old" societies like Cheliax.

My bad! I always get the two of them mixed up.
And I agreee a about the possibilities. You could have a french style revolution in Cheliax, but my guess is that you have quite a length of time before that will happen.
One of the concepts I wanted to put into my game world were semi-divine entities much like muses that were pushing mortals (secretly) to do things to advance thier roles. I tend to lump into that concepts the female personifications of ideals that were keen about the time of the revolution. For example "Liberty", "Justice", an so on.

*points across the field at the Chelaxians*
Assembled before you are the mighty armies of Cheliax. They wish to take this land, subjugate it to their tyranny and bleed away its resources. They would have you believe that all true power flows from the mouth of Hell. They would have you believe that unity and conformity are the same thing, that individualism is weakness, and that order is superior to justice. They believe they will crush us this day.
They. Are. WRONG!
We will make them pay with blood and tears and when we do, they shall find no peace in death as their infernal masters drag their wretched souls screaming into the pit, for we are ANDORAN, and soon the vile forces of Cheliax will discover one essential axiom that they have denied for far too long. Right makes might, not the other way around.
We are the righteous, and the wrath of the righteous is terrible to behold!
Charge!

I shall see you at the gallows, sir. and unlike in your land, your fate shall be decisive, swift, and carried out by an executioner who will not hide his face.

I intend to show that rogue/paladin is not an oxymoronic combination. And I'll do it when I smite a Chelaxian RIGHT IN THE KIDNEYS.
