Aid Another Bonus to AC

Rules Questions

Does the AC bonus from the Aid another action apply to all attacks from an opponent or just the first attack?

related..the definition of attack. Does Attack = Attack Roll, or does Attack = Attack Action?

Why it matters, character with Bodyguard feat/ability using aid another on an adjacent ally. Opponent has multiple attacks.

Timing: Opponent declares attack action against the target. Bodyguarding ally declares use of Feat an an Attack of Opportunity. AC bonus applied to ally. Opponent now makes first attack roll against improved AC. Do follow on attacks apply to the new improved AC or normal AC?

Thanks

Aid Another only applies to a opponents next attack. So Aid Another is "used up" after the attack is made.

Bodyguard would allow you to use AoO's to give them the Aid Another action ( for AC only)until you exhaust your limit of AoO's.

does 'attack' = attack roll or does 'attack' = attack action. They are different, and that is really the point of my question.

It depends on the context, and unfortunately it isn't always clearly defined by the context, evil homer. In some cases, 'attack' refers to a single attack roll (which may or may not be made as part of an attack action), while in others it refers to the 'attack action' (which will often include an attack roll).

In this case:

Aid Another wrote:
In melee combat, you can help a friend attack or defend by distracting or interfering with an opponent. If you're in position to make a melee attack on an opponent that is engaging a friend in melee combat, you can attempt to aid your friend as a standard action. You make an attack roll against AC 10. If you succeed, your friend gains either a +2 bonus on his next attack roll against that opponent or a +2 bonus to AC against that opponent's next attack (your choice), as long as that attack comes before the beginning of your next turn. Multiple characters can aid the same friend, and similar bonuses stack.

I believe it is referring to the next actual attack roll made by the opponent versus the aided target.

Right. In the case of Bodyguard you can give a +2 to AC on multiple attacks until you reach your limit of AoO's that Combat Reflexes gives you. Without Bodyguard, you Aid Another and the +2 is used up, the rest of the attacks are at normal AC.
