1d6 hit points would put it at 3 hp. Always use the average for monsters. Its how all the bestiary creatures are written.

I don't see a child killing this thing honestly. In fact I notice it has no natural attacks either? Effectively a DC 15 fear effect.

A first level child commoner has 1 hp. Hes small so his weapon dice are lower. The average child has a strength score of 6. So he has a -2 to damage as well.

fair enough. I thought about making it a Unique monster, that the Players would have to fight somehow (have not gotten there yet). Designed this last night while over tired lol

Shadow Lodge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Maybe it's a monster that somehow scales to it's opponent. So that when the kid describes it to the party, it doesn't sound that bad, but is apparently much worse if they try to confront it themselves. Perhaps even to the point where their best bet to defeat it is to teach the kid to stand up for himself, and teach him a bit of self-defense (hey, that first feat/feats have to come from somewhere).

i like that idea Kthulhu!

Shadow Lodge

Yeah, I kind of thought it was pretty damn cool as I came up with it as well. I may someday steal it.

I want to be there to see the game session where you have the party burst through the bedroom door and roll initiative....in the middle of the night...in some child's bedroom...in a peaceful village.

And teddy bears should offer a bonus of some sort.
