Avatar Image Selector issue

Website Feedback

I am unable to select an avatar for a new pfs character I created.

A window displays underneath to the left with details of the image and a 'select this avatar, but I am unable to click the button due to as soon as I move the mouse, the window dispears.

I've tried this in both firefox and IE with the same result.

I was having the same problem today.

It isn't *impossible* to select an avatar, but it is extremely difficult -- whatever algorithm discerns between moving your mouse to mouse over another icon, and moving your mouse to hit the "select this avatar" button is very finicky, and generally what happens is when you try to move the mouse, the interface seems to think you want to look at another avatar rather than work with the selection window, and makes the selection window disappear. Compounding this is the "select this avatar" button is far away from the avatar so you have to move your mouse a couple inches to get to the button, increasing the likelihood you will instead deactivate the selection window.

Depending on where the avatar is in the lineup can make this easier or harder--I actually had to resort the images a few times before I could select an avatar because it was in a spot where no matter what I did, the selection window wouldn't stay open.

Couldn't we just select the avatar by clicking on the avatar itself?

Alternately, could the "select this avatar" button show up right UNDER the portrait when the selection/info window pops up, so that we do not have to move the mouse so far and reduce the risk of losing the selection window entirely?

Seriously, it took me like five minutes to manage to click on the "select this avatar" button. It felt like a really badly designed browser game--although it probably would have been comical to watch.

I was also in Firefox.

We've had some minor changes to css that might have futzed with the usability some. I will check it when I get in and see if I can make it work a little better.

Just tossing my two cents in here as well - for a while I've been trying to change my avatar, but while I can access the window, clicking the 'Use This Avatar' button simply does nothing. I thought it might just be me. Please update us when you think you might have a fix in place.

Thanks!

The window disappearing issue should be fixed now.

Wiggz: What browser are you using?

Wiggz, I have the same problem. What I've been doing is getting the window to pop up, then using my scroll wheel to scroll down a bit, at which point the popup stays put so I can click the button.

That should be fixed now. It needs a few pixels of negative margin to keep from disappearing. Nothing major. If you moved it down really fast you could also get it to work.

So this works in ie8 for me with both compatibility mode on and off but IE 11 doesn't work for with compatibility mode on which is just weird. Not sure what it's doing differently but 9 might have similar problems as 11. Just to the right of the address bar you should see a couple of icons. Go ahead and press the one that looks like a broken sheet of paper. That's compatibility mode. Reload the avatar page and let me know if "Select Avatar" is still a broken button for you. Since this an ajax call, it is probably related to how ajax is called on your browser.

It was working properly when I used it yesterday.
