Need help with level 1 feat.

Sovereign Court

Hi,

I'm playing a level 1 monk in PFS tomorrow and I'm wondering which feat I should take with my "free feat" at level 1. I'm debating between Toughness and Quick Draw. All the rest of my feats are decided from lvl 2-12, and my character is a Drunken Master monk.

My monk has 19str and 16con so I'm starting with 12hp at level 1, and I'm mainly offensive unarmed strike focused throughout 1-12. Toughness will net me an extra 12hp which should put my hp total at 123hp (with 1 +2con item) at level 12.

I know that there will be times I need to use monk weapons to overcome certain DR though so quickdraw may be helpful. Also I will be "drinking" half the time in combat with "Fast Drinker" as a swift action. Not sure if my hands can be empty and I drink as a swift action or if I have to hold the jug at all times.

Which would you pick? Quickdraw or Toughness?

Between the two, I would go Toughness. I think it's a shame that monks are designed to be a melee-focused class in concept, yet don't have the d10 hit dice that other melee-focused classes receive.

If it wasn't for those two choices, I'd have to say Improved Initiative.

Toughness it not sex but, it allways works.

You can't take quick draw at lev 1 with a monk. It requires bab +1.

toughness, dodge, or improved initiative

Toughness.
With Toughness you end up with about as many HP at 12th level as a Fighter of the same constitution, assuming of course that the Fighter doesn't take Toughness.

Scarab Sages

My monks almost always have the feat Deflect Arrows. One monk did not. I regretted it.

Between the two as a monk I'd take toughness. The 3 extra hitpoints at level 1 are seriously usefull, especially if you are standing in the front line.
As a front line warrior Quick draw would be my first choice in order to switch from ranged to melee fast.
