I'm kind of curious, when a situation like this happens how does PFS dev team determine what spell is appropriate to replace an ability? Is it tied to the theme of the class at all? Or is it just something cool that you guys want to see but hasn't made it into an archetype yet? :)
Typically it is the former, as we're aiming to maintain the thematic integrity of the class or feature while also providing a replacement ability that has usefulness.
In the case of the latter, we have enough opportunities to write at Paizo that it's not unreasonably difficult to include a cool new archetype into an upcoming product. Sometimes it takes a little while before the right product comes along that would be a good fit for the archetype/feat/rule, but that's little reason for us to undercut the creative work of another author.
