Mythic is not Epic by far, and some people at Paizo have mentioned that Mythic doesn't exclude then of making Epic at some point in the future, something I would be glad to see, perhaps for 2016+

Yeah, then we could have a bunch of feats and abilities with Epic [insert name here]. And for the true powergamer, there's always Epic Mythic [insert name here].
By the time you're at 20th level, there's not much else to do besides go Mythic if the players/GM want to keep on advancing.
Maybe it's because I'm a big fan of a bunch of other systems that essentially don't have character advancement, or where it's a very minor thing, but I've never understood the whole concept where if you can't gain a level anymore, the character is useless to you.

Given that they have stats for Demigods putting them in the 26-30 CR range, and have expressed disinterest in statting up the more powerful gods, it seems unlikely they will in the future expand epic rules.
If they did add Epic....it would probably only expand up to level 26 or 27. Much higher and you basically break the current CR power range of the mythic level monsters.

You know you can advance into epic levels without gaining mythic tiers, right? It's right their in the Core Rule Book. And it's been a part of the game since 2003.
Also, contrary to what you claim, they have explicitly said, on numerous occasions, that if people want it they will make rules and powers for gods (which, I hope, would be better written than WotC's deities & demigods book).

For me, I like to mirror character growth in personality and story with mechanical improvements that reflect that. If my character is topped out, and storywise she learns a new skill, it would makes sense for that skill to show up on the character sheet.
But then I play characters long term - I have a Champions character I started in 1987 and still play occasionally. My characters tend to get played more in years (or decades) than months.

Based on the playtest material, I couldn't tell if a mythic summoner should go archmage or marshall. Well, the archmage starter abilities seemed better, but then again, the extra moves/attacks for an eidolon are still pretty useful, and as a summoner your spell selection is lagging behind.
Did the finished product make it easier to determine where a summoner should focus?

Was that at me? I said if the GM/players want to keep on advancing. If the GM/players want to hang around at 20th level and not advance further, then nothing is stopping that. Ditto for not advancing past 12th level, too.

You can technically pick abilities from both by taking the Dual Path mythic feat. So you could go Archmage and take Dual Path to take Marshal path abilities, or go Marshal and use Dual Path to take Archmage path abilities.

The latter would actually work far better. A player in my group offered Mythic Adventures as a solution for post 20th level advancement -- I then perused the book and concluded that 20th level is actually too late to start advancing in mythic tiers, especially if you got little or no advance notice that the DM intended to have the game proceed that way. The rules in Mythic Adventures seem to make a strong assumption that a mythic character is gaining levels as well as tiers as he adventures.

Actually there are rules and suggestions in the CRB for playing beyond 20th level (experince points, scaling powers, spells, multiclassing).
Because of: "(..) before long, the difference between good saving throws and poor saving throws becomes awkwardly large—the further you get from 20th level, the more noticeable this difference grows (...)" you could introduce a universal save progression (or something along the lines of +1 to any one save per level)
Or: You simply do not allow players to progress their PCs in a class further than level 20 - they have to multi-(prestige)class.
