Midgard calls, and the call is Dark Magic...

Spells and archetypes for ... battle scion ....
Ahem ... and shaman, and white necromancer and spell-less ranger ... well, no spells for that last one :)
In all seriousness - Oceanshieldwolf, I actually have a few illustrations that mught work for this, I'll try to remember to send them to you tonight :)

Writing a prestige class... 750 words seem to be not enough.
A prestige class? No. You'll need more. That'll get you an archetype, though, as long as you don't build a sample character.
For a PRC, you need 1500-2200 words, depending on the complexity and whether or not you have a sample.
-Ben.

@Drejk: terraleon has it right. But don't sweat the wordcount too much. You can go under or over 750 or 1500 - while I'd like to be uber-strict with wordcount to set a benchmark going forward, in reality the first issue will be more organic - I've already received small pieces that aren't enough to comprise an article and larger pieces that gooble 1500 words at least twice.
By all means send me an [Yggdrasil] email oceanshieldwolf@gmail.com if you need any more pointers or just general queries...

A GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT - Deadline Extended!
Hi fans of Midgard!!! So far I've received about a dozen article submissions, a pitch for an adventure (fantastic, and I'm tryng to get the author to make it three in successive issues) and have shored up one regular columnist and fairly certain of a second.
I also have some artwork to use (thanks Marc Radle, cyraxiii and Russ Bellon!)...
So on the good news front there is traction!!!
On the even better news front, if you haven't submitted something I am extending the deadline to October 31 - Hallowe'en - seems kinda fitting for the theme doncha think???
Why am I doing this? My University third year program is caning me and requires way more focus and reading than I anticipated. Blech! ;)
Also, this way we jump over the Wayfinder deadline so folk can still have separated deadlines for their fantastic submissions. It is my aim to release Yggdrasil exactly midway between issues of Wayfinder.
And finally, this way I am assured of even more submissions to make the first issue of Yggdrasil jam-packed with Midgard Dark Magic!!!
So, send your submissions to:
oceanshieldwolf@gmail.com
With [Yggdrasil] in the subject title of your email.
Remember the theme is Dark Magic!!!

Oceanshieldwolf wrote:@ Marc - an illustrated derro would be heartily accepted. Or an illustration of a derro, without tattoos. ;p
Hey there! Sorry for the delay but I just sent you a bunch of illustration to use as needed :)
Take care
[Realises hasn't actually responded on this yet] These are fantastic Marc! Thanks a bunch!!!

Don't forget folks! The deadline for submissions is the end of the month. Halloween approaches, and so too does the deadline for the Dark Magic themed first issue of Yggdrasil fanzine!!!

...but things have sure been slow in the past month or so.
I'd love to see some Midgard beasts of Dark Magic; some dread locales/environmental effects; plagues/effects/curses; atmospheric cautionary short stories; dark recipes; (as always) Midgard themed archetypes, base classes, variants and alternate classes; and then special lore regarding dragonkin, minotaurs, gearforged, lamias and of course, kobolds.
If you're stuck for ideas look through your Midgard CS book and work out what you feel is either missing that you could fill in, or something that inspires and that you'd love to see inspire other fans of Midgard!!!!

No love for prestige classes and spells?

Hmmm ... I recently completed something rather large and meaty about the lamia ... maybe I could squeeze in some time to do a little something lamia-related for Yggdrasil that ties in to that ...

Definitely love for prestige classes and spells. I'm hoping to have a prestige class of my own in for it, and already have a few spells. C'mon Drejk!!!!!

Well, seeing as lamia figure predominantly in Midgard (Journeys to the West, and the upcoming Freeing Nethus AFAIC) and your article in the final KQ that made them playable, I thought I 'd add them to the list of Midgard Player races.... By all means some racial shaman, battle scion, spell-less ranger or white necromancer archetypes (not sure why those in particular ;p), shaman, battle scion or white necromancer spells (;p), equipment, lore, variants etc would be fantastic. You might even be able to add some illustrations to the submission!!! ;)

Sounds good! I'll have something lamia-centric to you next week. If all goes well, it will include an illustration as well ...

I just sent an article and original illustration to go with it.
After a short into/overview of the lamia, the article details Va’zesh, the mysterious lamia Serpent Blade warrior who leads a group of outcast lamia commoners located on the Isle of Kyprion. It also details She’mosh, - moon oracle, chief advisor and consort to Va’zesh.
Hope everyone digs it!

My Midgard-fu is still only a light blue belt*, but I hope to have an archetype or critter done for you by the 31st.
* Apologies for mixing martial arts metaphors.
Critters and archetypes would be great. I'm sure your Midgard-fu is enough Ambrosia, and we have a few Midgard gurus around to help post-submission!

Drejk wrote:I might or might not manage to get a submission or two completed before the end of the month between the bouts of stress and traveling to another land...Sounds good Drejk! Just do what you need to, Yggdrasil will be here for a while...
Barbarian dark magic crunch article needs about 120 words more... Some of which will be used for polishing and fluff text and some for finishing totems. I am tempted to try to expand it and include more dark totems and maybe additional archetype or two to make it 1500 words instead of 750 but I am not sure if I will be able to do so in reasonable amount of time. I should be able to manage to finish shorter version in time, barring my plane crashing or something.
EDIT: After finished greater ghoulish totem I am left with 80 words to 750. Now I am going to sleep. I really would like to expand it to 1500 but I don't know if I will have enough goodies for that. Ah, knowing things I will get stuck around 1000-1200.

Oceanshieldwolf |

OSW: I will shoot you my critter before week's end - if you have any feedback or editorial/developmental ideas before deadline I'd be happy to hear it. Also, I may be able to source some accompanying art, but I can't guarantee anything at this late stage :)
Sounds good. The quicker you get it to me, the quicker I get back to you. Though being away from home for the next day or so due to bushfires is crimping my workrate...

Heh, not writing enough is rarely my problem ... alas, I usually over-shoot my word count and then have to figure out what to cut :/
This is my problem too. I'm always trying to squeeze too much into concise and sufficient wordcounts.
I imagine Drejk is merely in that in-between zone, and given more time could definitely blow waaaay over 1500.

Yeah... I think that another 1000-1500 words is hanging in large group just behind 31st Oct.
