After reading the journal entries, I was wondering if this campaign will ever be published?
Shadow Under Sandpoint, as ran, went from 1st level to about 10th level. I had other plans to go all the way to 20th, but I sort of abandoned those and did a different thing, sending the group to Osirion instead.
I could certainly see Shadow Under Sandpoint as an AP, though. Or perhaps as a single giant adventure or even as a boxed set. In any event, if something DOES go forward with it... I will be writing the whole thing—it's one of those things I don't really want to share with other authors.
It's not currently on any schedule, in any event. Would folks like to see a giant campaign set mostly in and under and around Sandpoint?

Yes, yes and again yes. I'd buy a stand alone, AP or boxed set of the infamous "Shadows Under Sandpoint" campaign or even better ALL OF THEM if they'd ever be published.
In fact I'm very much looking forward for the next AP installment "by James Jacobs", and no "The Midnight Isles" don't count fully as he's only co-author - but to be fair: Vaughan AND Jacobs in one adventure...that's almost an overload of awesomeness.

I know I would be very interested in this!
I absolutely love Varisia and the town of Sandpoint. I was a tad disappointed that it never even made a cameo in Shattered Star. (Although a GM so inclined could have a stopover there on the road to Windsong Abbey between The Asylum Stone and Beyond the Doomsday Door).
If there isn't enough to run a whole AP, maybe one of the new 64-page modules would be able to cover most of it?

I guess the issue this might face is that there are so many unexplored regions of Golarion that APs set in areas other than Varisia might be wanted more.
I for one think that Varisia has been set up from the very beginning as a place that is just rife with adventure seeds and I'm really enjoying all these seeds being explored through the various APs and how everything is connected. I think having one region really fleshed out where you really feel like you have a home base is better than a little detail on a wide range of places. I think it would be neat if the APs continued to return to Varisia every now and then and slowly revealed more its mysteries.
I suppose this could also be a part of a Darklands AP (eg. Ilvarandin), which people have expressed interest in.
Anyways, I'm glad I'm not alone and that it could be a possibility!

I'd be straight with you; This is not AP worthy. With that in mind, let me explain why.
It's a chance to tell the story (and for a guy who was writing those journals, Talbot? something like that, to finish them), set up side treks, possibly throw in easter eggs about the Varisian AP's and how they affect the country as a whole (i.e. seeing a group of adventurers with strange metallic shards on a wagon towards Magnimar) or even hooks! We all know there are certain parts of an AP we'd love to jump in on without starting the first sections. But keep it level 1-10. It's good. It's solid. It doesn't feel forced. Give some leeway room for higher or lower levels depending on side goals accomplished. Tie in already published material such as Varisia: Birthplace of Legends and include quips about NPC's from the other AP's like Mvashti from Jade Regeant. I personally think a "Guidebook to Sandpoint" would be a fantastic piece to include in this. Oh, yes, this needs to be a box set. Most assuredly a boxed set. And I would throw money at this as a kickstarter.
Kickstarter this thing, and watch it happen. Share the campaign, include the side notes like "When so-so did this, I was unprepared. Be prepared for X" and fun things like that. And I have one last radical idea: Leave the ending open.
Leave the ending open? You may ask. Because it's a great jump off point for a GM to really kickstart their own campaign. Give the GM's tips on where to go from there. Maybe even weave in a 'secret bbeg' that the GM can create and determine their motivations. But mostly, it's just a good spot for GM's who have grown comfortable from level 1-10 to really branch out because it's easier to have 10 goblins, 2 hobgoblins, and 3 bugbears than to try to decide how to condense a good fight into a few critters for level one. It can serve as an awesome adventure and a teaching aid for new GM's. This is Sandpoint, after all.

Most certainly, Sandpoint and the Runelords is what sold me on the system.

The Painted Oryx wrote:Seems like it might be a good candidate for the new module size...or just a full blown AP!It could certainly work as an AP... but it's far too big for a 64 page module. Of course, there's nothing to say we can't do modules that are longer than 64 pages...
2 or 3 linked 64 page modules maybe?
