So, I was looking over Clerics, and I was hoping for some clarification.
Apparently, Clerics do not have to worship a specific god, so that is kind of neat, and as long as they meet the alignment requirements, they can chose any domain.
My question is, it does not state that the domains are static, in effect, you could pray and change domains, not every day, but, you -could-. It doesn't say they can, or can not change it. So, I think that leaves it up to the DM's discretion.
One of our players says no, its static and once you pick it, its set in stone. So, I thought I'd ask you guys, since you have alot more experience at this then I do.
The excerpt I've read and re-read is:
A cleric's deity influences her alignment, what magic she can perform, her values, and how others see her. A cleric chooses two domains from among those belonging to her deity. A cleric can select an alignment domain (Chaos, Evil, Good, or Law) only if her alignment matches that domain. If a cleric is not devoted to a particular deity, she still selects two domains to represent her spiritual inclinations and abilities (subject to GM approval). The restriction on alignment domains still applies.
Each domain grants a number of domain powers, dependent upon the level of the cleric, as well as a number of bonus spells. A cleric gains one domain spell slot for each level of cleric spell she can cast, from 1st on up. Each day, a cleric can prepare one of the spells from her two domains in that slot. If a domain spell is not on the cleric spell list, a cleric can prepare it only in her domain spell slot. Domain spells cannot be used to cast spells spontaneously.
In addition, a cleric gains the listed powers from both of her domains, if she is of a high enough level. Unless otherwise noted, activating a domain power is a standard action.
Nowhere does it say you can not change it, or that you can change it. Could a cleric, whether he was aligned with a single god, or worshipping a pantheon of an alignment of gods. Can he change his domains?

It's static. It's an assumption of the game that unless it says otherwise you cannot change class features once chosen. Same applies to bloodlines, most feats (fighters can change one occasionally), and ranger combat styles.

It's worth noting that Ultimate Campaign has rules for "Retraining" things like this. But that takes time and money, not just a mere morning prayer.
Definitely static.

The fact that Ultimate Campaign has rules for retraining domains would definitely imply they're static, which I think was always the default assumption. Otherwise, hello perfect domain (and domain power) for whatever I'm going to be doing today.
