Alchemists and throwing multiple bombs per round.

Rules Questions

Does an alchemist NEED the Fast Bombs Discovery in order to throw multiple bombs each round? Or is using the Bomb class feature its own kind of standard action before then?

Could one take, say, Quick Draw and Rapid Shot to get more than one off each round before 8th level?

Would an alchemist with Quick Draw even need Fast Bombs?

The idea is to eventually use Rapid Shot + TWF feats to deliver a salvo of alchemical fun, just wanted to know whether it's possible before 8th level.

On a side note, by RAW, is there a way to store splash weapons (Acid Flasks, Alchemist Fire, etc.) in a manner that would allow Quick Draw-ing them? Would just describing my character as having a sash with loads of flasks attached be good enough, or do I have to keep that stuff stored in a backpack (and therefore need a Move Action to "Retrieve a Stored Item")?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

Without fastbombs, throwing a bomb is a standard action, the only way to get more than one is to get more than one standard action.

I'd allow a bandolier or belt full of alchemical flasks, though keep in mind that it might be dangerous to be carrying a bunch of fragile grenades all over your body.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I wanted to clarify, whether using the Bomb class feature is its own Standard Action separate from the Attack Action (tbh, I was pretty sure in the first place, but I always like to see that others are in agreement).

True enough about it being dangerous, but I'd imagine so would keeping them all jammed in a backpack :P

Yea, it's a standard action at all times until you take Fast Bombs.

And just to clear up some potential confusion...just because something is an Attack Action doesn't mean there's a Full-Attack Action version of it.

Oh yeah, that I realize, but I can see how the way I worded my post could suggest otherwise. Thanks.

Remember that you aren't just throwing the bomb. In one round you are mixing the catalyst with the active ingredient, and then throwing it.

Something like Quick Draw itself doesn't improve your speed of mixing your alchemical ingredients.

Bombs are unstable, and if not used in the round they are created, they degrade and become inert—their method of creation prevents large volumes of explosive material from being created and stored.

You can't pre-make alchemist bombs for combat.

The Fast Bombs discovery isn't increasing how fast you throw, it's improving your speed of mixing the ingredients. In other words, yes, it's absolutely necessary to take that discovery to gain iterative attacks as bomb tosses.
