Scarred Witch Doctor build Hex Strike

Advice

Grand Lodge

Hello Community, I am asking advise on building a 38 point build that leverages Hex Strike. I have DM go ahead for Orc and Half-Orc. I don’t want Humans with Racial heritage and Prehensile hair doesn’t work for my DM thematically.

I wanted to see what combinations of classes between Barbarian and Alchemist would stack to make this a fun play and deliver a solid Hex strike in melee. Likely this bloke will run with armor on (SU abilities should work), hexing or cackling and just doing the spell-casting through the armor (with ASF) or taking it off afterwards. Delivering the Hex Strike is going to be the boss sauce.

Thanks everyone.

You'd want Hex Strike on Slumber or Misfortune, or both. If you want Misfortune, you're going to need Cackle and you will also need to have a move action available the round you hex strike, as well as all following rounds til that foe is defeated, due to the way its duration works, which can be very limiting for a melee build.

You can wear Haramaki w/o any spell failure keep in mind. For shields, get a heavy one and replace with mithral when you can. You'll still have spell failure, but a shield is easy to take off for between combats buffing/healing.

I would try to keep levels outside of witch to a minimum. And even if you can't hex strike with it, prehensile hair is worth taking if you have a very high Con score. Easiest way to boost Con would be dipping Barb 1 and Alchemist 1 and taking Raging Vitality feat. For the 10 min. your mutagen lasts and while raging, that's +10 Con. For a barbarian dip, you might want to consider Wild Rager. Losing control sucks, but the will save will be easy so you have a lot of choice about when you're confused and when you're not, and utilizing wild rager can greatly extend rage rounds per day.
