Need help with an Advanced Erylium!!

I have been running a 5th level group thru Burnt offerings. I have been doing well so far by advancing the goblins and rebuilding Tsuto, however, i am now in a bind with Erylium as she is not so easy to make a challenge. Does anyone have a write up for her that is a 6 or 7 CR? I will likely need to resort to making her a race from APG if no one has anything to assist me.

Add a couple levels of Witch to her. It's what I did when I ran my group to her - I started everyone off at 2nd level and just have upped the CR rating of many foes by +1 through Advanced Creature or Character Levels (and by making Goblins into Fighters instead of Warriors). A couple levels of Witch would increase her effectiveness, give her a new level of spells to play with, and more hexes.

In my group's Erylium encounter, the PCs were their own worst enemies. One barbarian voluntarily drank the water after a hint that it might "enhance" his rage, and another stepped in it to reach an enemy. If they don't do it themselves, you can have some sinspawn throw a PC into the water, causing them to enrage. Then have Erylium hold person or slumber hex someone else to allow the rager to attempt coup de grace on the helpless target. And/or have her stay invisible, and continually create sinspawn that try to bullrush/overrun them into the water. The sinspawn's sinful bite giving PCs a long lasting -2 to most things can be unpleasant.

Erylium's invisibility, fast healing, and DR make her punch pretty high for her CR already; there's more than a few threads here about Erylium killing PC's or even wiping parties. She nearly took out my players when she retreated invisibly and got Koruvus and a couple sinspawn for reinforcements after a grueling long fight; the PC's didn't remember to heal up after the battle.

Instead of raising Erylium up much, I'd just give her an extra summon monster spell to harass the PC casters and have her summon a few more sinspawn for the PC's front line when the fight starts.


Thanks, all. I hadn't considered using more creatures to make her encounter more difficult. I will ikely give her 2 more levels of witch and possibly a "pet"


Oh, one other thing: I give the Sinspawn a level in Barbarian. A Raging Sinspawn is a horrifying sight!

I was thinking of giving her 2 levels in cleric. She'll be able to channel evil and use the spell Command to make a player on the edge of the runewell jump in.

She's already got command as a witch.
