Uhm, wait what?

My favorite real-world mythology dragon (Svara) is actually already in pathfinder???

Azi, Sruvara

While it stays true on the extreme poison part, I really dislike the creature being everything BUT yellow, missing a horn on its head and being snake like.

The Svara in real myth was Yellow in color, dragon like, not snake-like and had a single horn on its head, pretty much like the pteranodon or white dragon from D&D I guess.

Anyway I see now that all azi's are from real-world mythology.

I would like to see them in bestiary 5 BUT, Gandareva and Sruvara should change colours, the Gandareva being water azi so being blue, the Sruvara which is in EVERY SINGLE case of the real myth being yellow should be yellow instead of the Ganderava...

Then I would like to see them, the artwork for them (sorry to say this, no offense) isn't anything I like so that was pretty much the reason I disliked the Azi's and I didn't even wanted to read their profiles/fluff until I saw Svara/Sruvara was one of them... Now I see the fluff is pretty good but the art isn't keeping up.

So my wish is for 5 azi's in bestiary 5, all from real mythology.

- Azi, Svara (yellow)
- Azi, Ganderava (blue)
- Azi, Zahhak (black)
- Azi, Gaasyendietha (redish/rock colour) (meteor azi)
- Azi, Ladon (green) (about plants) or Azi, Ikuchi (Black) (about tar/oil)

Berselius, I like that list.

Concerning Templates, the Advanced Bestiary should have that front covered.

So much agreed.

There's always room for more ideas.

Bersilius great list we need more high powered celestials
Kthulhu I completely agree

Berselius, some of the azata names are likely product identity of WotC, but I do like that breakdown. The pleasure devil wasn't one I was a big fan of, though I like lilim for it better than brachina. And the shiradi are sort of lame. (Neither of those your fault, it hearkens back to the original material.)

Boy I like that loxonal idea though.

Pretty sure I don't care about the colors of the azi, but I would like to see them make it into the bestiaries. The div were some of my favorite fiends.

I don't buy third party products.

I don't care what third party products have as long as it does not influence what I can and can't get from Paizo.

This is a Bestiary 5 wishlist.

There is always room for new ideas but old ones can be good as well.

I think some of those Agathion names are copyrighted. Though I still like to see those animals along with some weird stuff like unicorn or griffin since we have a dragon one.

Well the colors can be forgiven, but the same artwork in a bestiary is a no-go for me.

That Poison Dragon Svara is one of my favorite mythic creatures, giving it such an artwork (re-used and not special) is really strange...

The Advanced Bestiary will prove you very wrong on that account, since it is a third party product that Paizo themselves use on a frequent basis in their APs. It's highly unlikely they will significantly double tap templates the AB already puts out. Causing it to directly influence what you can't get from Paizo.

Luckily, your buying habits won't influence what the rest of us are able to enjoy.

+1 to the unicorn and griffin agathions.

Piazo also uses stuff from the tome horrors and have printed there own versions of many of those creatures in there hardcover bestiaries so what you just said means nothing. Also this a Bestiary 5 wishlist and has nothing to do with any other products that have been made or being worked on. Finally everytime someone says something about a third party product on this board they don't sound like a customer but a salesman trying too sell his wears. It's like watching your favorite show and all of sudden at the best part a commercial comes on about some stupid product call "wonder mop" or "super fiber cereal".

And I know you aren't talking about how a Bestiary 5 wishlish shouldn't bring up other similar products, because you thread crapped about your Distant Worlds Bestiary on someone's Inner Sea Bestiary 2 wishlist. Probably four threads down from here. Pot shouldn't call Kettle black, let alone the silverware.

Green Ronin's Advanced Bestiary will likely retain most of their templates exclusively because Paizo A) doesn't like to overuse templates in the bestiaries and B) has already made extensive use of them.

Tome of Horrors is a completely different story, because it was originally intended to overlap. You'll find few of the Tome of Horrors originals reprinted however. Unless I missed the Paizo black skeleton and Lucifer somewhere?

So some overlap, not a lot, probably why I used the term 'significant' in my original post. Almost as if the words I chose meant something, in defiance of your statement.

Hopefully the Bestiary 5 is full of hobgoblin army statistics.

3rd party products can be relevant because certain Paizo people have done a lot of 3rd party work. Adam Daigle is one of the main monster gurus for Paizo, and also made the excellent Midgard Bestiary (which draws a lot from folklore). I am pretty suspicious that those creatures will appear as new entities in a Paizo bestiary.

Similarly, Owen at Green Ronin has worked on official paizo products and is now ringleading the Advanced Bestiary, which probably means that we won't see reprints of those templates in Bestiary 5.

I suspect we will see more Tome of Horror monsters on occasion, if only because I don't think Paizo agrees with their takes on all of the monsters. But then James Jacob says that they already grabbed most of the staff's favorites from that book.

I don't care if Paizo never used templates and creatures from 3rd party products, as long as paizo will use the creatures from mythology (even if 3rd party products made a perfect version, I don't buy that so I really need all mytho-creatures in paizo bestiaries.) in their own bestiaries one day.

I'm so glad I already know that ain't gonna happen.

Would like to see the Azi updated.

Some more monsters based on Latin folklore would be awesome, both pre-Columbian and modern day. Stuff like the Ciguapa would be awesome. I was happy to see the Catrina in there. I had statted a version of it called the Calaca that was a little more powerful but both were psychopomps.

Bestiary 5 full of hobgoblin statistics, well that is not going to happen since this not wizards of the coast.

I don't remember everything that was in tome of horrors but I am sure there are a few things left I want to see. Well a few that are not from myth and I do want to see those that are from myth as well.

I remember we got a lot of monsters from tome of horrors in Bestiary 2 but I can't remember any in B3 or B4. Though like I said I do not remember everything that was in that book.

I would also like to see the Azi updated and with better art.

Bestiary 4 had templates from the Advanced Bestiary. So I hope there's more, haters be damned.

Wich templates were from tome of horrors?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My two cents:
-More asuras ( the rebels against Gods's mistakes, very juicy plot)
-I concur with many of berselius's. Especially the Tulany, and many of the angels: good guys make the best bad boys, sometimes.
-Leshay, old faery lords, survivors from a reality that was made imposible to exist by their selfish meddling into its natural laws.
-Some kind of Faery lords. Fey, generally speaking, would be also most welcome
-A full type of Dream creatures, preying on mortal's psyches from the fringes of the Vigil, pressing boundaries to get into reality. They may be themed by the mind states and illness( calmness, happiness, schizophrenia, delusion...) that afflict the mindscapes where they prefer dwelling/preying
- More soulless abominations from outer space.
-Parangon creatures: template for the mythic blueprint of the perfect specimen that nature had in mind when created their lesser forms. Not necessarily the most powerful ones, though. (Animal lords are somewhat limited... but it's a start)
-Really powerful hags: their unholy cunning, wickedness and bizarre debauchery would always be a refreshing draft into any stale hack-and-slash campaign. Don't be stingy with the ambition and greed overnotes, please, so they´d be comfortable taking on whole realms and cults with their lesser brethen. They can even be made into Mithic ones, like the wicked old witch of the West, from The Wizard of Oz storybook, needing rare and peculiar ways to permanently dispose of them ( like dropping a house on her, or dressing her with her sister´s clothes... )
-Dance Macabre: that is a name that can inflict some serious horror into the most dour Pcs. It would make a perfect Hammelin's Piper.
-Black Phoenix: the other half of the Phoenix soul. Maybe that'd be why they can't die easily ( you need to kill them both), or maybe one it's the male and the other one the female of the species
-The soul-depredatting Daemons need a few more specimens to be a real player in the big leagues
-Revisiting some of the children tales's characters and monsters, we can try some new approaches to old themes. Let's take, for example, the Grey Gentlemen from Michael Ende's Momo : an entire species of Parasites preying on free Time. They can be made into a kind of outsider, bringing riches into the cities but draining years and/or charisma ( willforce) of their citizens. There's a few more things, of course, but their main role sounds new and old at the same time.

The perfect evil phoenix creature = Rarog

Dark Archive

Adamantine, mithril and other types of colossi
Wheat, bronze, obsidian, silver, gold and platinum golems
More clockworks

Wheat Golem?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I would prefer a Rye or Sourdough Golem myself...

I wouldn't like more bland golems like silver and gold, but more golems like the Cannon golem or the awesome fossil golem (original golems) are always welcome!

Gold golems could take the form of gold coins or gold bricks. It could spray gold dust that acts like a glitterdust spell. It could become liquid gold. It would be healed by electricity.

Silver golems could have been made to fight lycanthropes or other silver vulnerable creatures. It might gain power by the full moon or moonlight in general. Touching it might grant weapons silversheen. It would be healed by cold.

Obsidian golems could do slashing damage and bleed with there slams. it could also leave some pieces of itself in the wounds to cause more problems. Maybe it could fire obsidian shards that cause bleeding. It would be healed by fire.

Platinum golems could release platinum salts in the air that irritate the eyes, nose, and throat. It could have a dispelling strike, reflect spells, or reflect ray attacks. It would be healed by acid.

Then the gold golem should be named treasure or hoard golem instead.

For silver golems I could see a werewolf-formed golem made of silver much like the brass minotaur golem.

Mahony Obsidian or Snowflake Obsidian would be better (just kiddn)

I believe if you make a Platium golem you could go the road of making every mineral into a golem.

Dark Archive

I have a hard time seeing a molybdenum or a hassium golem

Dark Archive

Maybe not every mineral golem but I could easily see most raw trade goods in UE being golems as well as diamond, chain (If a kyton could have one wish...), dragonhide, blood crystal and viridium

I for one would love creatures (golems and others) based on rare minerals like Rhodochrosite and morganite, but because people only know amethyst, that isn't going to happen.

Its the same as in the shows on television, there are never questions about rare gems/minerals, bizarre animals or mythological creatures other than the extreme famous ones... While they ask questions about difficult books and sports... like everybody is suppose to know that but doesn't care a cow about rare stuff.

Chain Golems would be cool for Kytons, but they are already (with the same name) in D&D Monster Manual 2.

So they need another name, maybe Pain Golem?

Dark Archive

Elysian bronze, darkwood, fire and frost-forged steel, greenwood, whipwood ,wyroot and living steel golems as well

Dark Archive

Rhodochrosite golem now that is new something like that would be awesome.

Other names for chain golem I didn't actually make them for kytons I thought of that after perhaps shackle golems or prehensile golems

My favorite golems (before the cannon, which I call War Golem and fossil golems came out) were the Hangman Golems.

Paizo could name them Rope Golems.

Dark Archive

Hey Gancanagh how about agate, alabaster, azurite, hematite, lapis lazuli, malachite, pearl, pyrite, quartz, tigereye, carnelian, chrysoprase, citrine, peridot and chrysoberyl golems
As well tomb golems(golems made from gravestones who specialize in killing undead and grave robbers by tracking corpses and treasures from tombs and graves) and paper/librarian golems (created to protect knowledge from those who seek to destroy it with powerful slams and an aura that inflicts bleed damage and pain penalties from hundreds of paper cuts)
And MMCJawa thank you for the inspiration for the cookie golem a normally resilient construct but takes double damage from bite attacks and swallow whole damage

Dark Archive

We seriously need a cookie golem

Dark Archive

A friend of mine is asking for living spells and the wereyak also I'd like to see rules for monster synthesis

All those minerals and gems you named are of the pretty famous label, only like the chrysoprase and azurite from that list :-p

I'm more into a Axinite Golem and Spectrolite Golem, I loved the gems that had special properties.

My ultimate favorite stone in my own collection is the extreme yellow Wulfenite, so maybe a Wulfenite Golem ;-) Also love my Heliotrope or Bloodspot Jasper.

My least favorite stones were Diamond, Agate and Normal Mountain Crystal/Quarts

Too overused and simple.

Diamond would still be good for a golem since it the hardest natural substance known.

Tomb golems would be interesting. In fact golems made to fight specific creatures like undead, lycanthropes, aberrations, etc. would be interesting.

Dark Archive

When I said paper golem I immediately thought of Galt

Dark Archive

A uranium or plutonium golem would also be interesting I would go with francium or mendelevium but most people wouldn't know what that is maybe beastiary 6? Anyway a radioactive golem would be pretty unique. Perhaps a creation of the technic league meld dangerous technology with magic as war machines.
Also cyborg template acquired template that you can buy and craft or buy additional abilities for

A cyborg template would make more sense then a half-golem template so I am all for that. Though some cybernetic rules for player characters(in another book) without using a template would be nice.

Yes I would like that I've tried to homebrew that but without success

Dark Archive

Plastic and balloon golems

Cr500cricket wrote:

That would have to stay off of Sesame Street.

Dark Archive

Yes yes it would until now they've replaced Cookie Monster with Veggie Monster

Dark Archive

Lots of more templates please even if they're straight out of advanced beastiary

1 person marked this as a favorite.

They replaced cookie monster with veggie monster?

So we will have cookie golem, balloon golem and plastic(toy) golem basically a party golem set;)
