How will does Pathfinder 2e address the “linear fighters/quadratic wizards” problem?
All dice rolling is now instead resolved by players answering word problems with a slide rule?

Really? We do it by lifting weights.

Fewer spells per day, spells not auto-scaling, and spells just being weaker in general.
Too much so?

I must play at your table. I do that for a living.
Wait scratch that I do it for a living.

In my humble opinion...yeah.
Maybe two of those three...or a little less of all three.

I wonder if D&D 5E did a better job. :/

In a different vein,
I'm getting the distinct impression that WoTC is run by some "not so nice" people. (The "damning part" is in the second section of Werthead's posting.)

That's my problem with math. It makes your brain work extra hard for minimal appreciable results, and afterward you're left tired and confused and some degree of nauseated. It's like getting drunk except with none of the fun parts.

I like Sathar...and none of my players have a chance of knowing what they are.

Sadly I dont think this is new. It is why I ran away from WotC to the warm welcoming embrace of Paizo.
It is sad my friends did not see this trend in WotC at the time I did. And they say they are progressive. :(

I actually dont mind simple useful math...but when you get into the more high brow stuff I turn off.

Not being PoC or LGBTQ+ it can be surprisingly easy not to see things that are right in front of me. :(

That is a tough question. They are starting to be more aware of it I hope. Though not to the point of where they would stop playing and supporting WotC D&D.

I admit I was actually looking at D&D 5E, because of how widespread/popular it is ... But, not until Hasbro/WoTC cleans house.
Fortunately, I am looking beyond d20 for my next campaign (… or maybe).

@Lord Fyre: How are those systems?
Both systems use variants of Modiphiüs's 2d20 system, so that might depend on what impression you may have of that. Beyond that ...
What to they do that you like?
A couple things.
* - They are settings that I quite like. Yes, I am aware of Robert E. Howard's racism - but he was a product of 1930's Texas.* - Character creation for both systems is relatively simple and easy to understand.
Or dislike?
* - Both games have "narrative" economies. As I have little experience with that kind of system; I would rather play in a game with one before trying to GM.
* - The downside of "relatively simple" is that characters can lack detail and become very similar very quickly.* - The Star Trek Adventures heavily focuses on the DS9/Voyager era (including late TNG). But my playing group much prefers the TOS era.
Hopefully that helps.

What do you mean by 'narrative economies'?
From Star Trek Adventures (which I know better then Conan):
* - Each player has "Values" that they can use to create "Determination" Determination is used to create advantages, add to rolls, make actions possible (if there was a problem), and remove scene complications. As you might guess, the character's supply Determination points is sharply limited.
* - As the group progresses, they will accumulate "Momentum." Momentum is like Determination, but less powerful. Character gain momentum by succeeding is skill challenges - but the party can collectively only have six points at any time. Spending Momentum does free up space in this "inventory".
* - Finally, GMs have "Threat" with a variable amount depending on the scenario and the player character's advancements. Threat works like Momentum for the GM. Players can also add to the GMs threat by spending Momentum (or even Determination) that they don't actually have or by taking actions "out of character."
As you can see this is a lot of "pools" to keep track of.

Those things can really add to the game with the right GM and group...Though with the wrong group/ GM they can be bad.
L5R 5th ed have something similar which is pretty cool.

Have any spooky stories?
Well I do believe I live in a haunted house so I have lots....
I have seen shadows out of the corner of my eye or hear strange sounds at night, and a phantom cat that I can feel walking on my bed.
Here are there of the spookiest stories and a very spooky dream I had...
1) one late night I was coming in the back door after having a cigarette. And I heard a man's voice coming from the basement. I listened to it intently for minutes...It was not a voice I recognized. I could not make out what he was saying. And the basement was pitch black so I know the TV was not on.
2) When I was coming down the stairs one late night I heard what sounded like somebody playing a video on the computer. Okay I thought my Mom was up late....when I hit the first landing though the sound cuts off. I continue down the stairs and no one was at the computer(Though the screen was active)....Okay so I thought my Mom just went to bed in the time it took me to finish coming down the stairs...unlikely but possible I guess. When I was going back up the stairs though when I reached the landing where it turned off it came back on.
3) I once saw a entity outside my bedroom window that scared me. To this day whenever I think about it I feel that fear as intensely has when it happened. I still don't look out of Windows at night. I have told this story in more details elsewhere on this forums...
Spooky Nightmare:I was having a dream that it was Christmas Day. It was like a combination of the Christmas Days past. My nieces were young...past pets...etc. Than there was a knock on the door. No one was there. Someone turns of the light and I could see silhouette of a tall creepy figure and than I woke up.
I think the dream was about the lonlieness and depression I feel during the Christmas season.

Have you seen any of the Ginger Snaps movies?
Do you have any favorite werewolf movies?
I have not....Though I have been circling Ginger Snap for a little while now. I have heard good things.
As for my favorite werewolf movie...
- The Howling
- A American Werewolf in London
- Dog Soldiers
- Late Phases: Night of the Lone Wolf

It looks good to me. Though I have not thought about StarFinder in months.
Then I shall have to ask the Dark Solarion.

I do highly recommend Late Phases....
I watched I Am Lisa last night as an election results distraction, and I strongly recommend avoiding it. Even if you can make it through the incredibly triggering first act (bullying, physical assaults, and rape), the rest of the movie is just poor acting (at best), idiotic setups for easy tension and violence, a seemingly disinterested lead actress, and director/writer(s) who think that making a "cool" revenge movie (it isn't) makes up for repeatedly dropping the ball in basic moviemaking and storytelling (it so much does not).
TL;DR If you make it through the triggering first act, the rest will leave you alternating between boredom, anger at everyone in the movie for not giving a sh!t about the movie they're making, and anger about the moviemakers thinking you're too stupid to know better.

Selene Spires |

I will avoid I Am Lisa...it kinda looked interesting...but i will listen to you....
I saw a movie called The Wolf of Snow Hollow...It is a odd movie. It is billed as a comedy horror...but I did not find it funny...It is almost a drama. The horror scenes are well done though. I am hesitant to recommend it. If you can catch it for free maybe give it a try. (I am curious what other people think)
Another movie which is most definitely a horror comedy is Big Bad(2016).
It is one of those cheesy fun popcorn movies....with in my opinion a great twist.

Ooo! I watched that one earlier. I liked it quite a bit, even though it took me a while to start rooting for the main character sheriff who kept screwing up his personal and professional life. As for the reveal
Edit: Also, I am super excited to finally watch the upcoming Wolfwalkers.

Yeah I liked it because I found the Sheriff's son character arc to be compelling. Just the bits that was meant to be funny fell flat with me.
As for the spoiler....
Also yes Wolfwalkers looks really cool...unfortunately I don't have access to Apple+ TV :(
I also finished all three Ginger Snaps movies and liked them a lot.

She comes in to use the kitty litter.
That is one of the highest of feline compliments. She has gazed upon all the wonders of The Outside, beheld all the majestic spots as far as she can see, and from all of that, she still thinks the facility you've provided is the most peaceful and luxurious spot available.
Think of it as your pumpkin patch being chosen by The Great Pumpkin.

The whole point of letting a cat go out is so you don't have clean out their kitty litter...
Tonight she learned she can come in at the back door too.
