ROLG THE RED

Arbiter:
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Spellcraft 24

Surprise Round

A low grunt is the dwarf's only response before he flicks his own wrist, producing and casting his own scroll just as quickly before beginning to advance.

Rolg draws a scroll from a wrist sheath.

Arbiter:
Draw Scroll of See invisibility from Spring-loaded sheath, cast it
Caster level check DC 5 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

... and successfully activates it.

Spellcraft DC 17 (if cover doesn't obstruct your view of Rolg):
See Invisible

Invisibility is now a non-issue for Rolg. He rolled a 16 to see Elinora. Can he see her? If so, where is she?
.
Either way, he 5' steps to K.10

You're up.

Arbiter:

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Elinora's stealth roll was for concealment from invis, not cover, so Rolg can now see her regardless of her stealth roll/his perception. She is in B-10. He sees her eyes get wide as she recognizes the spell he casts.

Impossible! This brute? Trained in magic?

Elinora, caught red-handed, changes tactics, and stalks to the west. Rolg can hear her making some noise, but can't see what she is doing.

Arbiter:

Move action: Elinora moves stealthily to E-5, using cover from the pillars to get there. She draws her level 2 scroll as a free action while moving.

Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16

Std action: use scroll
Scroll: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Elinora is now using stealth from cover, so she can be located with a perception check.

Perception DC 16:

She is in E-5 up against the pillar. There appears to be 3 of her.

ROLG THE RED

Arbiter:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

Round 1

Elinora can see Rolg pull out a second scroll and use it, unfortunately, the column keeps her from being able to see what it is. It becomes moot, however, as he hustles forward toward the center of the arena, edging towards her.

"Selvfølgelig er det tre av dere nå."

Dwarven:
"Of course there are three of you now."

Arbiter:
Draw Scroll, activate it. Arbiter, the scroll has been PM'd to you.

Then Rolg activates his Quick Runner's Shirt to close to E.09

Draw scroll. Activate Scroll. Then hustle over to E.09.

You're up.

"I guess there is no sense in hiding, then. Come, dwarf, do your worst!"

Arbiter Only:

Full-Round Action: Cast Rime Snowball

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Dmg: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 1, 5) + 5 = 21

All 3 Elinoras make identical arcane gestures, and fire a wicked icy blast at Rolg!

Spellcraft DC 16:

Snowball. Can spellcraft detect meta magic too? If so let me know and I'll elaborate, though I'm pretty sure it is obvious.

Ranged Touch attack is a 19. If that hits, Rolg takes 21 cold dmg, minus 10 resistance if my assumption is correct. ;). He is entangled for 1 round, and must succeed at a DC 15 Fort save or be Staggered as well.

I may do something else with my turn, but I have to see the outcome of the attack and your save first. Sorry for the delay.

ROLG THE RED

that would seem to be the smart tactical choice.

Arbiter:
1d20 ⇒ 19
1d20 ⇒ 7
1d20 ⇒ 14

The snowball slams into the dwarf, ensnaring him even as it staggers him.

Sense Motive DC 12:
But you see through the ruse. Hes faking, and isnt Staggered.

ROLG THE RED

And just to make sure I'm getting this right, Elinora can cast a Metamagic spell as a standard action?

Arbiter:

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Sense Motive is a 13. Whew.

In answer to your question: maybe yes, maybe no. But what is certain is that after she notices Rolgs deception, Elinora high-tails it out of there.

Arbiter:

Swift Action Quick Runner's shirt to B-9 using the cover for stealthiness.

Stealth: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Elinora darts past Rolg to the North.

Perception DC 12:

She is hiding behind the pillar at B-9

Elinora's movement keeps her out of what she thinks is Rolg's reach (10 ft). If he has a way to have 15 ft reach, she will provoke an AoO. Just let me know please.

ROLG THE RED

Lol. Didn't consider the Quick-Runner's Shirt. /facepalm. And no, at regular size, Rolg's reach is normal for a reach weapon…10ft.

Arbiter:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Round 2

As much as it would have seemed impossible a few seconds ago, the woman's retreat makes Rolg's scowl deepen. He explodes to twice his size and lumbers between the two columns, eyes following the she-drow.

"Kjører bort ... det er din store plan?"

Dwarven:
"Running away… that's your big plan?"

Arbiter:
Embiggen as swift.
Then move to C/D 10/11.
Then ready an action (PM'd to you, Master of the Pits)

Rolg doubles in size, then moves to C/D 10/11. You're up.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee? hehe

Elinora uses regular movement to leave a threatened square, going first to C-8. This provokes from Rolg, who would presumably have to use a gauntlet cause it is too close for the hammer. Do you wish to AoO?

ROLG THE RED

Cool. Though that actually provokes twice since you can't cut that corner (meaning you have to step to B.08 then to C.08). So 2 AoO's coming right up. Also, as there are 3 Elinoras, Rolg's shooting for less than 33 on the percentage.

Rolg lashes out with a pair of spiked kicks at the tiny, fleeing drow.

Arbiter:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
1d100 ⇒ 39
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
1d100 ⇒ 16
1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

First AoO: Attack 24; Miss chance 39; Damage 12. (I'm hoping this is a hit that's turned into a destroyed Image).
Second AoO: Attack 18; Miss chance 16; Damage 12. (I'm hoping this is a hit, though i'm guessing it's close).

Doh! forgot about the corner rule! Yeah the 24 takes out an image. The second one hits Elinora. Combat Reflexes on this mofo? Cripes. In response, her armor fires a spell at Rolg.

Spellcraft DC 16:

Snowball again

Arbiter Only:

Immediate Action: Rime Snowball
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Damage: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 1, 6) + 5 = 19

A 21 Ranged Touch Attack should hit, and will deal 19 cold dmg (minus any resistance). Rolg is also Entangled for a Round and needs to make a DC 15 Fort Save or be Staggered.

Elinora then continues to move to D-7, which provokes if you have another. I'm assuming that since you bothered to give Rolg CR, he probably has 14 dex, which means he would normally get a 3rd AoO. Does the -2 Dex penalty for Enlarge mean he doesn't get it though? I'm not sure. Either way, Elinora has no idea what his AoO # per round is, so she will hope the fact that she gets cover, and he is entangled, will protect her. :P

If she is still alive, she finishes her move in D-4 and fires at Rolg with her bow.

Arbiter Only:

Std Action: Fire Mwork Poisoned Arrow at Rolg

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Ranged Attack is a 21 vs his enlarged and entangled AC. If that doesn't hit, I'm in even more serious trouble than I thought. Dmg is 8, but at least it is regular and not ice, and then he needs to make a Fort DC 13 (cmon nat 1!) or bad things will happen to him.

The drow tries once more to keep her distance from her relentless foe. She narrowly avoids a kick that would have broken her neck, but instead takes one to the midsection, which knocks the wind out of her. Her armor responds by blasting her enemy with icy feedback. She then regains her composure and fires an arrow in desperation...

ROLG THE RED

Yep. I mean, if you're using reach, kind of stupid NOT to take it, right?

Arbiter:
1d20 ⇒ 3
1d20 ⇒ 15
1d20 ⇒ 14

Rolg takes a face-full of ice. He's slowed but un-phased. It does slow him down enough to take the arrow in the side, despite the cover provided by the column. The dwarf doesn't even register that poison might have been on the arrow at all.

Round 3

Despite it all, the dwarf stands. As he shrinks down to his natural size behind the pillar, Elinora can see him draw and use a scroll, though she can't see him to identify it.

Arbiter:
Draw and Use a Scroll of Cure Light Wounds. Activate Judgement of Healing
Concentration DC 16 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Rolg shrinks back down, draws, and uses a scroll. He's currently in C.10. You're up.

It looks to me like if I go to J-5, Rolg will only get the half cover bonus instead of full. If you agree with that, I'll go to J-5. If I'm wrong and he gets full cover regardless, Elinora will go to J-3. Either way, after her movement, she draws and fires a strange arrow that has a mini glue pot attached.

Arbiter Only:

Move Action: to either J-5 or J-3.

Std Action: Fire a tanglefoot arrow at Rolg.

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Entangle Rounds: 2d4 ⇒ (2, 3) = 5

Elinora stays on the move, pulling another trick out of her sleeve to try to slow down the dwarf. She fires an arrow with a pot attached, that explodes in a burst of goo, hoping to make Rolg stay put.

Ranged Touch attack is a 16. If that hits, it deals no dmg, but Rolg is entangled for 5 rounds. He must then make a DC 10 Ref save or be glued to the floor, unable to move. The conc check DC to cast while entangled is only 10 though.

I feel like Hawkeye trying to take on the Hulk here. :P

ROLG THE RED

Well, sadly, Rolg is no Hulk. If he were, now way any number of crits could actually take him down. :(

I don't' like that it says "up to GM discretion" at the end. But for our purposes – since it sure looks like more than 1/2 of Rolg would be exposed – let's say he only has partial cover.

Arbiter:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Eep... barely made the save.

Round 4
Rolg is able to avoid the worst of the goo, continuing to watch the dark elf as he draws and drinks the contents of a vial. His body responds instantly… limbs becoming thicker as his skin takes on a fibrous, dark tone.

Arbiter:
Draw and drink a vial (PM'd to you)

Draw and drink a vial. Your turn.

Round 5

Elinora stays on the move, disappearing behind the pillar in J-9. Rolg can hear her chanting arcane words, but can't see to be able to tell what she is doing.

Arbiter Only:

Move Action: stealth to K-9

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

Std Action: Cast Spell that I PMed to you

Perception DC 12:

In K-9 up against the pillar

Done.

ROLG THE RED

Arbiter:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Round 5

The dwarf's eyes never stray from Elinora. He steps away from the column, drawing a scroll…

Arbiter:
DC 10 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

… and activating it as he moves towards her.

Arbiter:
Draw and activate Scroll (PM'd to you)
5' step to D.10

Draw and use scroll. 5' step to D.10. Your move.

Round 6

Elinora draws and uses a scroll and then 5 ft steps to L-8

Arbiter Only:

Move Action: Draw Last Scroll

Std Action: Use Last Scroll

5-ft move to L-8

You're up

ROLG THE RED

Round 6
Rolg's slow advance continues as he draws out and drinks another vial… immediately exploding up to twice his size again.

Arbiter:
Draw and Drink potion (PM'd to you)
5' step to E/F 8/9

Draw potion. Drink Potion. 5 step to E/F 8/9. You're up.

So, any visual difference in Elinora from the last few rounds? Still only 1 Mirror Image?
Rolg is now twice his size, stronger looking, and harder-looking.

Nope, no visible effects, still only 1 image

Round 7

Elinora steps to the side to give herself a clear shot (L-7), and lets loose with another blast of ice.

Spellcraft DC 16 in case you arent sure what it is:

snowball

Arbiter Only:

After 5 ft move, rime snowball full round action

Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Dmg: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 3, 4) + 5 = 18

13 Ranged touch vs your entangled/enlarged AC with no cover. If that hits, you take 18 cold minus resistance, are entangled for 1 round (with the regular version that requires DC 15 instead of 10 to cast), and must make another DC 15 Fort save to resist being staggered. I'm hoping if I throw enough saves at you, you will roll a nat 1.

Done.

ROLG THE RED

13 is a hit.

Arbiter:
1d20 ⇒ 16
Shrugged off the Staggered.

Round 7
Rolg takes the spell directly, but keeps coming. He ignores layers of goop, frost, and pain as he raises a hand and points at the woman and barks out a few syllables in a strange tongue.

Spellcraft DC 16:
Litany of Sloth. You can't cast spells defensively.

Then, finally, Rolg unleashes the primal anger that's been boiling under teh surface. With a screaming battle-cry, he swings his hammer low to take the smaller elf's legs out from under her.

Arbiter:
Move to G/H 7/8
Litany of Sloth
Concentration DC 16 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
SR Caster check DC 9 • 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Raging Trip 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Miss Chance 1d100 ⇒ 2

Move to G/H 7/8. Cast spell: Concentration check pass, SR check is 16.

Then Rage + Trip: 23. Miss Chance (trying for under 50): 2 (success)

You're up (but hopefully down).

yup, the trip hits. in response, my armor fires another icy blast. and by my count, you either took a level of alchemist and drank a mutagen and an enlarge extract, or you didnt, and instead drank a barkskin and enlarge potion and are well over the alloted consumables amount of 825 gp. ;)

Arbiter:

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Immediate action: Snowball

Ranged Attack Roll: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16

Dmg: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 4, 4) + 5 = 19

spellcraft misses by one. :(. ranged attack vs big/entangled is a 16. dmg is a 19. DC 15 yet again for staggered. Elinora will then stand up, and i have to see the outcome of your AoO before I take my actual turn.

ROLG THE RED

Yep, Rolg is one helluva mutt.

Arbiter:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22

Rolg seems unaffected by the Staggered.
.
Also, was that armor-cast spell from the same armor? Or are you wearing multiple sets of armor? If it's from the same armor, can you do that? Other than the round you used a scroll, I don't see that you had a full-round to re-charge the armor you used earlier. If it's multiple sets of armor, don't you think Elinora wearing multiple sets of armor would be obvious to Rolg? I just can't seem to find where you referenced that was the case (if that's the case).
.
Also, Rolg is holding his AoO for now; finish out your round.

On round 5, the spell I cast that you couldnt see, was me casting another snowball into the armor. It wasn't a full-round rime snowball. Just a standard action regular snowball. ;)

Round 8

Arbiter:

Cast Defensively

Concentration Check DC 17: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Ranged Touch Attack Snowball: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Dmg: 5d6 + 5 ⇒ (6, 4, 4, 2, 3) + 5 = 24

The drow and her illusory double stand up and spit out blood, hatred boiling in their eyes. "How long must I bombard you?!?! DIE!!!!"

Elinora successfully casts defensively, though I suspect that will be impossible given your swift action spell that she failed to identify. At any rate, if she survives the ensuing AoO, She does a 13 Ranged Touch vs Entangled/Enlarged Touch AC. Even if your mutagen was for some reason a dex one instead of str, im thinking she still hits for 24 minus resistance, plus the obligatory stagger roll. I know the rule about if you dont move during your turn you can 5-ft move, but I honestly don't know if that applies if you took a move action to stand up. If it does, and she is still alive, she will 5-ft move to the right.

ROLG THE RED

Sigh.. jeez mcCrow, but that's a lot of snow-balls to the face. :(
.
And yah, the spell Rolg cast keeps you from casting defensively. It was a bit of a hail mary (as I'm assuming you have SR), but there was really nothing to lose in the attempt.

Rolg's massive hammer slams down as Elinora begins to attempt to cast.

Arbiter:
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
1d100 ⇒ 3
3d6 + 12 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) + 12 = 24
1d20 ⇒ 11
AoO to Lucerne Hammer Strike.
Attack 25, Miss Cance 3 (shooting for under 50) - SUCCESS, Damage 24. Which means (if this hits) you now need a Concentration check to complete the spell through damage.
.
Then, if the spell still goes off, his fort save was successful.

Elinora wrote:

Yah, I agree with you. While it's a move-equivalent action, I don't think it's movement, so a 5' step should be legal. Which square you ending in? It won't change my attack, but it might affect whether he moves or not.

Round 8

The giant dwarf continues his relentless assault, delivering a second over-hand chop of the huge hammer in an attempt to smash her into the arena sands.

Arbiter:
Hammer Strike

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
1d100 ⇒ 50
3d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 3, 4) + 12 = 25

Hammer Strike 23, Miss chance 50 (shooting for under 50), Damage 25. Um... not sure if this is a successful hit or not... do you know?
.
Let me know your position (after the 5' step), and I'll decide if Rolg will adjust his position accordingly.

EDIT: On whether 50 is is "Successful". If I'm shooting for 50%, and shooting for teh low roll, that would be 1-50 is good, 51-100 is bad... so I'd think that second shot (if a high enough attack roll) would be on Elinora, not an Image.

um, yeah. the DC is 10 + dmg dealt + spell level. Even if I roll a nat 20 i fail. I was really hoping for either a low attack roll by you or an image hit. the scroll i used before was shield too, so i actually have decent AC right now, but not high 20s.

The first hit almost knocks her out, and the second one kills her outright. I was really hoping to get more use out of that mirror image scroll, but them's the breaks. Good match, bud.

ROLG THE RED

The enraged, enlarged Rolg spends another twenty seconds or so working off the frustration of the last few failed fights on the remains of the dark elf. When he's done, he splatters his boot and the arena wall with her dark blood by kicking the lumpy mess that's left of her back towards her arena entrance.

Consider this a few rounds of CDG's for big damage.

He vents the last of his rage into the open-air of the arena before picking up his gear, waiting for his potion to wear off, and stomping back through his own entrance.

Yah, you roll a 1 on that Mirror Image? I was also surprised you didn't Shield + Mage Armor up during that brief respite ... that's kind of what i expected.
.
But either way, well played and GG.

Yup, rolled a 1 on the mirror image.

I did shield up, but I didn't Mage armor up, cause my skirt already gives me 2. I figured I'd need all the slots I could get for snowballs, so it wasn't worth it. Normally 2 direct hits is enough to drop someone.

ROLG THE RED

Yah, had I not had Resist Energy, this would have gone wildly different.

End of Bout Four
VICTORY TO ROLG

Bout Five
LIANE VS. ROLG

ROLG THE RED

Rolg stomps out into the sunlight, geared the same as he has been every fight so far. (Full description of gear is on profile page) He tosses down his extra pole arms as he regards the halfling with her airborne mount.

"Flott! Jeg har sett deg kjempe, liten jente. Dette bør være interessant."

Dwarven:
"Great! I've seen you fight, little girl. This should be interesting."

Arbiters:

Liane, level 4

Liane enters on the opposite side wielding her longbow in one hand and with a scroll in the other one. Seing the furious dwarf on the other side, she eyes him first with her left eye, then with her right.

Hearing the dwarf mutterings, Liane shows her teeth, then open her mouth and sticks out her tongue at him.

Sorry, It's B4 assuming I started in A row. I've corrected it in the post.

ROLG THE RED

No problem.

Round 5

Another arrow zips in to penetrate Rolg's armor. His face contorts in a dark grimace as he begins hustling to follow the little flying halfling. With seeming supernatural effort, he crosses the entire arena sands, pushing through his entanglements, to end directly under Liane and her mount. There is fury in his dark eyes as he looks up at her.

Liane, level 4

Okay, I've got one question that I was not able to answer and I would prefer it solved before my move. It may need a ruling.

I haven't seen anything about not using acrobatics to avoid AoO while being mounted. But I haven't seen it done or how it could be done. MY idea would be to roll acrobatics both for the mount and for the rider, but I open to suggestion/discussion.

One other question I have is if you can use a move action instead of a swift action to perform something that needs only a swift action.

ROLG THE RED

Hmm. Regarding the mounted Acro, i feel sure it's necessary (as you and the mount are both leaving a threatened square), though i haven't run into this myself. I don't know how I feel about both having to make the check, but on the other hand, both are trying to avoid the AoO.
.
Regarding substituting a swift in place of a move... I've never seen (or can't remember) rules to support this. There's this, though,in the PRD section for swift actions: "You can, however, perform only one single swift action per turn, regardless of what other actions you take."

Liane, level 4

I know flying/mounted combat is not highly detailed in the rules as the game is made to be played in 2D. Since I'm playing Liane, I've run into lots of issues/imprecisions that did not occur to me until then.
If you agree with that, we'll go with two rolls of acrobatics to avoid AoO and you can target the one(s) fails her (their) roll(s)
Good point on swift actions, though. I'll go with that.

ROLG THE RED

Love to get Master/Mbauers' opinion on this Acro thing, though. Don't want one of us getting screwed.
