Allow every one in the world to vote in the US Presidential Elections if they recognize the US Constitution.

Petition

This one had me tempted. Really. If the US bullies us into mass spying on our own populations, we should have a vote on who is president there. Or the US should butt out of our politics.

Yeah, america's next presidential candidates pumping their grotequely bloated budgets into the foreign media to have worldwide attention. I'm all in for that.

Join the Union, pay our taxes, and abide by our laws, then you can have a say. I hate to break the bad news to you, but we're not the big bad bullies of the world. We may not be saints over here, but this delusion that the worlds woes are the U.S.'s doing is about as justified as the celebrity status given to reality tv personas.

Maybe a quid pro quo: if YOU get to vote in our election, WE get to vote in yours.

The Cablegate leak (thank you Bradley Manning!) says differently. One of the cables details six new intrusive surveillance laws that the government of the US demands of the government of Sweden, on pain of getting on various restricted trade lists, IIRC. Sweden has since the starting gun then implemented all these in the form demanded by the US. Don't give me the story about how the US are not bullies, because it's evidently not true. I agree that there are woes in the world you are not to blame for, however.

Not just no, but HELL NO.

We have it bad enough just with the swathe of different social, moral, and cultural climates within the scope of our own country.

Sounds like you should start by voting in your own elections to get a government that won't sit and heel for the US. And then your government should ally with other governments to tell the US, that no, if they try to pull this stuff, the US will face strict trade sanctions. Get enough countries together, you got the economic muscle to do it.

The US does what is in its best interest, perhaps your government should do the same?

The US has been interfering Austalian politics since the Great White Fleet.

It is what great powers do, if you want protection and a favoured status you have to accept interference and bullying.

It has always been Australian policy to have a great and powerful friend and when the UK proved not to have ability to protect its Empire we looked to the US for its assistance.

Our alliance is not equal and we are too ready to jump into any war that the US is involved in.... Korea, Vietnam, the first and second Gulf Wars, Afghanistan to name a few conflicts.

The alternative is to sit alone (New Zeland excellent friend and ally not withstanding) with potentially hostile and culturally different states to our north who see us colonial remnants who do not belong in Asia.

We have the population of New York city spread over an area the size of continental USA we have mineral wealth out the wazooo and not enough people to stop any body taking it from us.

Our alternative Great and powerful friend is China..... And no Australian is under any illusion as to the level interference that entails.

So we are left with the US as Europe has no interests other than Europe... With the US we have a shared cultural beginning, shared language and similar outlooks on life....

Although we are far more left leaning, working class friendly, and socialism is not a dirty word.

Most Austalians know the price of the alliance and accept it, those who don't vote against it and they have never won... When the Yanks get too un-subtle in their interference they get told to but out.

Horribad idea.

Eventually, one of the bright lads or lasses that work on that website will get the idea to limit access to inside the United States. Until then, Yellowdingo will continue to entertain us.

Never happen...because like me they know that at superposition all nations are the same nation. The nation that understands that and plays to make all citizens it's citizens...wins.

Just taking the game to the next level.

Has anyone other than Yellowdingo ever signed one of his petitions?

What do you mean recognize the US Constitution?
Do you mean they accept that is the basis for the United States Government? (Wouldn't this be everyone? No thats not going to ever happen)
Or do you mean they use it as their own Constitution? (Countries that are protectorates and such? Cuz Puerto Rico for example, refuses to join the US)
Or use it as a basis for their constitution?(Once again, thats not going to happen)

The outcome would be to send a message to the world (and to a lot of US citizens) as to who wants to be a part of the USA and who recognizes it as a nation.

Has your mom voted for any of these things? They all have 1 vote.
I'm starting to realize that you don't have any ideas.

Yellowdingo is a global superhero who is in constant e-mail communication with the president of Albania!

Yay Yellowdingo!!!

These anti-USA things amuse me. Sure America is far from perfect...and we have done some very horrible things.

But from your high and mighty seat of 'morale' superiority take a look in your closets? Do you actualy know what your goverment? US just sucks at keeping it's secrets.

Also it ironic...that you praise socialism...which increases goverment power....so you want our goverment to be more powerful. Well good luck to you if that ever comes to past.

Scorecard for those at home:

Yellowdingo--From Australia, doesn't praise socialism, relatively anti-USA, possibly insane.

Sissyl--From Sweden, doesn't praise socialism (like, at all), relatively anti-USA, quite sexy.

The Eighth Dwarf--From Australia, kind of socialist but wasn't really praising it by saying it isn't a dirty word, not really anti-USA at all.

Comrade Anklebiter--From New Hampshire, which is the best part of the USA, praises communism all the time, vehemently anti-USA, possibly insane but certainly a goblin.

I mean seriously...this is a thread started by yellowdingo...does anybody take him serious.

Also personaly I believe all goverment systems eventualy lead to tryanny and collapse...so it really does not matter...it all ends in the same place.

So really I am pro-invidual and anti-goverment.

Sigh but I hate labels...which I kinda makes me more of a anarchist...sigh I can't win.

Unfortunaly till humanity matures we are going to need goverments. They are a neccessary evil. But saying one form of goverment is superior to another is kinda laughable...just look at history.

I have often wondered is yellowdingo really insane...or just like pretending to be one on the internet.

In Yellowdingoism String Theory might just involve chasing the dangly until something new catches your attention........

More than best mates, Canada is that favourite cousin that you can go drinking with and you know if things kick off you have each others backs and if our Kiwi cousins are with us we 3 make Chuck Norris piss his pants.

To Yellow Dingo:

F-CK NO!

You vote when you're a naturalized citizen or a natural-born citizen when you turn 18. If you can not read english. Too bad.

P.S. We already have a non-citizen as a president and he's created such a colossal mess...

Sissyl, the Sweds are the Bankers of the World and sad as it known, many criminals and terrorist organizations funnel their money into Swenden to do horrible things to horrible people across the world, including the United States, Great Britain, and Israel. The Sweds, in their best neutrality, sit back and collect interest.

Sadly, there are people who've actually bought into this. Granted, there's a huge campaign to sell it to them, but it's still pathetic.

Whatever. No point in trying to keep all those dinky little European countries straight, right?

Sweden is clocks, chocolate and mountains. switzerland is the capital of Denmark... To quote an american I knew once.

Ah, politics on an internet forum (and not just politics, but international politics where we can combine not only racism/classism but also xenophobia). Much informed and constructive discussion will come from this, I'm certain.

Maybe Blue Pigeon is being funny?

I mean really most Americans actualy don't buy the birther crap...even the republican dropped...indeeed never really ran with it. Sure some ahem silly fringe elements do...

I am not a fan of the current president...but he is a American.

I can see some merit in this... especially if it lets us outsource the Iowa Caucus to Romania. After all,we already outsource some of our torture there.

As far as the rest are concerned string theory is like a field of grass...those little strings are every where and light blows across them like wind over a field. But for me Strings are just the shoe lace that separates what is in the shoe from what is not in the shoe.
