So Pope Francis is on record as being totally in support of the Argentinian claim on the Falklands and has referred to the UK as'usurpers' in the past.
This is going to be a problem as it will now encourage the madwoman in charge of Argentina to believe she has Papal sanction for her actions over the Islands.
Off course the fact that 99% of the Falklands population just voted to stay British will be ignored..after all that was a democratic process.
And we should give a damn what a religious leader thinks in this secular world?

The planet is not as secular as you think. Given that 99 percent of it's population belong to a major religon of some description, calling it secular takes an extreme length of denial.
And while Vatican City isn't a major temporal power, it controls vast financial assets.

Wrong. 84% of the world's population belongs to a major religion. That's a lot of unaffiliated people.

In Australia 22.3% identify as non religious, 9.4% are undeclared ...

Since you're here, Comrade Dwarf, what was that 77% song about over in the Good Tunez thread?
"77%" was a prominent song that featured the line: "77% of Aussies are racist"; the lyric was in reference to Australians survey results in response to the Australian Federal Government's response to the Tampa affair.
Because at the time 77% of Australians believed the governments lies.

The 8th Dwarf |

The Tampa affair?
A Norweigan freighter the MV Tampa rescued some refugees/illegal immigrants from a sinking "people smuggling boat". The Australian Government refused the Tampa entry into Australia, the captain said f#** you to the right wing pigs/Australian Government and proceeded anyway. The government sent in the Australian SAS (just as good as the British SAS) to take control of the ship...
It was a mess and it's worth looking up the incident on wiki... That and the "Children overboard" mess.

That is a bare minimum.
Consider the number of people who declare themselves religious because they don't want to be murderised by their government.
And the number who won't be murderised but will be excluded from their community and culturally and financially disadvantaged.
Top that up with the ones who say they're religious to please their family.
Then a dash of people who claim to be religious to get their children into a local school/organisation.
Of course, there'll be a few the other way but most of the time it is easier to play at religion than play at atheism or agnosticism.
