can a separatist cleric choose a druid domain?

Rules Questions

i am looking for a pfs cleric that can get a familiar without going the eldritch heritage route to get one.

i was looking at the separatist archetype which says

Forbidden Rites wrote:

A separatist selects one domain from her deity’s domain list, and a second domain that is not on her deity’s domain list. This second domain cannot be an alignment domain that doesn’t match the cleric’s or her deity’s alignment. For example, a lawful good separatist cleric of a neutral good deity cannot choose the Chaos or Evil domain with this ability, but can select the Lawful domain even though her deity isn’t lawful.

Granted powers from the cleric’s second domain function as if the cleric’s level, Wisdom, and Charisma were 2 lower than normal (minimum level 1) in terms of effect, DC, and uses per day. This also means the separatist doesn’t gain the domain’s higher-level ability until 2 levels later than normal. If the second domain grants additional class skills, the separatist gains these as normal.

In all other respects, this ability works like and replaces the standard cleric’s domain ability.

it seems like from RAW perspective this is legal way to choose the monkey/viper/eagle/frog domains that druids can choose from in order to get a familiar, then choose improved familiar to get a good one that can use wands.

anyone see a flaw in this thinking?

I think Domains are Domains, and none are tied to or are exclusive to any one class. The only restrictions are what domains are permitted by a deity for a cleric, or what domains appear on the available list for other classes.

However there are two things which may affect the various animal (and terrain) domains from Ultimate Magic:

1) The text reads "A druid with the nature's bond ability can choose an animal domain or terrain domain." This implies that only a druid may select these domains. I'd still rule that a domain is a domain is a domain and clerics (who don't worship a deity, or who have the separatist archetype) may select from these.

2) And this is the important one, many of the powers associated with these domains depend on levels in druid to be effective. For the familiar, if you are a cleric and have no levels in druid, you kinda don't get a familiar. At least by RAW.

I'd personally allow a cleric with no deity, or a separatist cleric, to select an animal or terrain domain and substitute his cleric level for any granted powers from the domain.
