A monk and his Archtype

Rules Questions

so this may sound dumb but I am just seeing it a lot in a few conversations. People talk of haveing qing qong monk arctype with lets say ki mystic. but doesn't the qing qong over lap that and you can't do that, right?

You can take multiple Archetypes, so long as none of their abilities replace the same base skill. As none of the abilities granted by Ki Mystic replace the same abilities as Qinggong Monk, it's fine.

Qinggong Monk and Ki Mystic both at least alter Diamond Soul and Diamond Body

Long running debate. A search for qinggong will bring forth many threads and many posts over whether the option to replace a class element counts as replacing a class element whether or not you take that option.

I say it doesn't, so you could take qinggong and ki mystic, you just couldn't take the option to replace Diamond Soul/Body or any other Ki Mystic replacements.

You can have multiple archetypes, but if they both introduce a new ability in the stead of an existing ability they overlap and cannot both be taken.

Depending on your GM's interpretation, Qinggong either replaces nothing (after all, EVERY choice is an optional change. A Qinggong Monk could have the exact same powers as a base monk if he wished) or almost everything (After all, it DOES "change" all of them from being a fixed gain into being a bunch of separate choices).

I lean towards the former, but it'll vary from table to table.
