Okay, serious campaign-important question time: You will probably liberate this enemy stronghold and it would make a good encampment for the paladins, who would be more than willing to aid you in your campaign. So, if you would like, we can set this up as the establishment of your kingdom, with the paladins basically serving as your government. They will handle the nitty gritty, such as income generation and building choices. But this basically gives you a safe base you can use as you explore Zahvroma and eventually provide you with goods and services in an inhospitable land. So the question is: would you prefer that I just come up an arbitrary gold amount to serve as the funding for supplies and manpower (along with some magic items/weapons/armor for the party) or would you just like a standard treasure package with you all keeping the gold?

Fortress question: Well, looking at the options, for ease of paperwork Standard Treasure Package would be the way to go. However, being a GM myself, I'm going to side with you Henry and vote for the arbitrary gold amount. More fun that way.
