I want to my players to do a ‘scavenger hunt’ for a good Fairy Queen or Noble. At each item the player will need to overcome some sort of trial/encounter/contest. The list of items I can think of is:
• A 4-Leaf Clover from a Leprechaun
• Dust from a Pixie
• A Piece of a Shooting Star
• Hair from an Unicorn mane
• Mushroom from a Fairy Circle
So for example anyone who touched a mushroom from a Fairy Circle would need to make a Will Save or dance as if affected by Irresistible Dance spell for an hour.
My question is can you help me come up with ideas for the trial/encounter/contest?
Maybe a special flower that only grows in one place....

Make sure the terrain is rife with acrobatics-check causing slick floors, narrow ledges, pit traps, etc, to make the misfortune aura as aggravating as possible. But the little gremlins won't stand and fight. They will launch curses and buckets of filth at anyone trying to make it through their cave to reach the flowers, but won't attack anyone directly that doesn't attack them.
If someone tries to engage them directly... then the gremlins respond with salvos of arrows... preferably with debilitating but likely non-lethal poison (dex poison maybe)
I highly suggest you avoid asking for parts of various enchanted animals the fairies are fond of. you know what adventures are good at right? killing things and lopping off pieces of them. so unless you want your unicorns hunted for their fur, try not to ask.
What you could do instead, is ask for a drop of unicorn blood, freely given (and there is precedent for freely given blood being different, somehow, magically). Then they can do a task for the unicorn, like slaying the evil ranger who is hunting it, etc.
